not much respect for a guy that helped win two rings for the Steelers and had a hall of fame career. We went 11 - 0 the beginning of the year with Ben. Maybe it is time for him to hang it up but I would not mind seeing him one more year.

If Ben was a better leader this doesn't happen.

I think that it. If Ben still wants to come back now it’s purely down to money. I’m actually convinced he retires now.

    Good Luck Pouncey Bros.
I always liked him. Liked him as a player. Liked him even more after he jumped M. Garrett. That was great.

From "Free Hernandez" to the leader he's become, Maurkice set a great example of maturity and personal growth.

Yeah, but he said he doesn't care about $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ at this point. I know that people say a lot of things. But he doesn't need it. At his age, and health, money isn't a priority. He is beyond the pissing contest with his peers. He doesn't need a paycheck to solidify his place in the pecking order because he's not on par with the top 10 anymore. So I'll humbly disagree with you and say that money is NOT a reason for him to come back.

Think about it. What good does $10/20/40mil do for him if he plays another year and gets hurt? His family, especially his kids, is a consideration at this point. He's already spent a year rehabbing. Trust me, neither he nor his family want to go through that again.

Honestly, other than another ring, which is a longshot (ask the Chiefs), there is nothing good that could come from him returning. Nothing.

First, athletes always say they don’t care about money, but in almost 100% of the situations their actions indicate otherwise. Regardless of how much they’ve already made.

But beyond that, big time athletes are so competitive that they always think there’s a chance. You and I see the window closed, Ben sees young WRs, a good D and with a tweak here/there that they can make a run. He has no doubt that he can do it at QB.

actually, part of me thinks that if the Steelers release him, by mutual agreement or not, Ben might play elsewhere. He sees what Brady did, and thinks - why not me?

    BPA.

Depends on who is available. From my view though and, for worth it is worth, only Myers and Humphrey are Round One options. That said, for Matt Canada's Outside Zone Runs to work successfully, you need a dancing bear at Offensive Tackle.

Either Samuel Cosmi or Christian Darrisaw will do. I would not mind trading up for Darrisaw either should the price be right in addition to him being within striking distance.

Thanks Pouncey. Good luck in the next phase of your life. I gotta ask though, what's up with Ramon Foster being their spokesman? Weird.

I have nothing but love for what he has been for this team. I appreciate him for what he did in the past, even last season coming back from a blown elbow. I don't feel, however, that I'm being disrespectful by pointing out the obvious. Ben's body is done. His arm isn't live anymore and his mobility is a tremendous liability, not only in his play, but in the limitations it places on the offensive playcalling.

Let me ask you, if he comes back and we go 11-0 and then choke down the stretch and get bounced in the wild-card round, would that be a successful, acceptable season to you? For me, it would not. We have a good defense and good, young talent on offense. That is wasted, IMO, with Ben behind center.

I have to disagree. Athletes don't always say they don't care about money. That's extremely rare, especially in this day and age. The further back you go, the more you see that attitude.

And Ben's situation is different. His health is more important at this stage. Did I hear him say that? No. So I'm obviously making an assumption. But he has found religion. He is a different man, and player, than he was even a few years ago. His wife told him before he opted for repairing the elbow that she was okay with him retiring. He took that to heart and contemplated retiring at that point. But he didn't come back for the money even then. It was the competitor in him, and his relationship with Pouncey, that drove him to have surgery, rehab, and prepare himself for another run.

I don't disagree that he "thinks" he can still be effective. But he's not comparing himself to Brady. Not a chance. He's not Brady. He's taken 100 times the punishment that Brady has and has had to heal from injuries that Brady only has nightmares of. He knows that. He also knows, as we all do now, that his arm isn't the same.

And he will NOT play with another team. You have to be joking there, right? An aging qb with 0 mobility and a suspect arm. Can't run plays under center. Be serious. There is no market for him. Period.

I don't think Ben would return just for the money, he's a competitor, I'm sure he doesn't want that 4 interception playoff loss to the Browns to be his final game.

Thanks for your service Pouncy, loved your play several years ago, especially when you would pull around for a run. Pretty good for a center to that. It's time for your next phase in life.
