Paxton was a First Rounder. :)

Selected Pick 26th in the 2016 NFL Draft. Coming out of the draft, some thought he had the highest ceiling but also having the biggest bust potential the same if not given the time to learn the position. Sadly, the bust aspect played itself out.

Now, the biggest thing working against him is his height. QBs 6'7 or over have never panned out in the league. Their biggest reason is due to their release and arch at which the football has to be thrown at. This is also why Brock Osweiler did not pan out either.

Regarding him starting?!.... I mean. I do not see why he cannot. He has played in games before. The question remains as to whether or not Mike Tomlin's comfort level is good enough for Paxton to be elevated to the 53 man roster. His best shot of being elevated would be tomorrow and somehow surpassing Devlin Hodges within that span to become the backup.

Should Mason falter yet again against Cincy, start him then. Let him get some game reps.

I have racked my brain trying to figure out why Ju Ju looks scared and why the WR's have so many drops. I think it's this:
    1. The WR's know the ball will arrive off target.
    2. The ball floats so badly that the WR's have time to think about how to catch it, if they want to catch it, how do they catch it and remain in one piece, etc.
    3. The WR's know that the ball and the defenders will get to them at the same instant even if they "were" wide ass open.

Rudolph wasn't supposed to be starting yet, he was supposed to be sitting on the Bench learning under Ben. I'm not going to write him off after 6 games but I do think he needs to go to the bench.

If he has another clunker against Cincy I don't see how anyone can advocate to keep sending him out there.

Of course you are right but it just seems like the things he is failing miserably at are the basics and not something he can learn from the bench; or anywhere else at this point in his time as a QB. Only time will tell.

I never thought I would witness a Steelers QB endure more wrath from the fan base than Kordell Stewart in the late 90's.....and Tommy Maddox after the pick 6 vs Jax in 05. I was wrong.

He has ZERO pocket awareness. He has zero mobility. All that is fine if you can throw the ball. He don’t that either. Why is this board so dead set in a solving this guys no mater? Literally every human being sees him for what he is. A backup.

You may end up being right but I’m gonna wait for more than 8 games to make that determination.

He’s not starting more than 6 more games. Period. This season ends. This experiment needs to end.

Tell me more how he needs help. Or a coach. Or a mechanics. Or an arm. Or talent. Or.

    Wait.

I don’t know anyone in real life , in the media, any human being period that still defends him as actually being good outside of this message board. So I’m willing to concede. I just ask for the private tape you guys have him that the rest of us don’t have.

To be fair though, while the O line has generally been OK with pass protection they have been very inconsistent in run blocking. The best way to help a young QB is to run the ball effectively.

What makes you think it can't hurt? That Browns game was one score in the 4th quarter, Baker put it away with a TD pass where he looked like a young Brett Favre. This defense still has holes.
If I believed Tomlin (or any coach) had what it took to make a playoff run with this team, I'd certainly trust his choice of who should be the starting QB...

Holy hell I can’t believe people saying trading dobbs was a mistake. Jumping the gun just a little from that loss? It sucks we got rid of dobbs and Landry, they would fix the receivers hands. It would be like having warren moon and joe Montana on the same squad. We wouldn’t miss a beat with those two.

    Hey bigbenhotness.

I see the stats but for now let's just look, and hope, that Thursday's game was an anomaly. Once again, prior to that one game, his stats looked "good". Now, if it becomes a pattern, then we have a serious problem. Take care BBH.

You're entitled to think this offensive production would be difficult to duplicate.

    I don't.

His mobility would have helped and he was no where near as inaccurate as Rudolph has been.

I actually had to ask if Rudolph is color blind and I like the kid, been defending him but it's also ok to admit when someone is playing poorly.

I don't think this offensive production would be difficult to duplicate, I just don't know what good duplicating it would do.
    Maybe I'm missing the point.

This is the best throw I’ve seen mason make and the only catch Holton has lol in preseason.
