I like him a lot. He’s a seek and destroy linebacker and once he truly learns how to play the position he’ll be a good one. One danger, though, is that you don’t want him thinking so much that he’s ineffective and loses some of his aggressiveness.

Been watching film breakdown of him and he offers more than just a thumper but I’m fine if that ends up being his roll because they have Holcomb.

We’ll get to see how this unit performs this year and if it’s something they want to keep together or need to address it in the draft. They had their chances to add some better known talent through free agency and didn’t and it wouldn’t have broken the bank to sign them. I’m cautiously optimistic they have something in the guys that are here.

Based on the way you are fawning over him, I wasn't sure if you were aware. Yes, I'm sure the Steelers were aware of why they were able to grab him off the scrap heap.

Fawning over him? LOL. Just because I think a guy is a valuable backup to have isn't necessarily fawning over a player. I liken him to Spillane. Not necessarily a starter but a good player to have available if you need some spot starts and some plays to rest your starter. Not a pro bowler but solid enough to not hurt you if he has to play. Starting experience is valuable. What he costs won't break the bank either. If that's fawning over a guy then guilty as charged. These type of players though makes a team solid.

I see you've decided to back down on your praise now. That's fine. I'm not sure he is valuable enough to justify keeping a fifth inside linebacker, but maybe he's decent on special teams.

You can't always get what you want
But if you try some time you find, you get what you need

Can't fill every position. Just that Bush isn't taking up space at ILBer i'm optimistic. Robinson got some late reps last season and is a keeper.

They might add an ILBer after camp. Hopefully Holcomb and Roberts put a halt on the revolving ILBer door.

Like Ask said I feel as well the position that needs a vet is Edge. I'm excited for Herbig to flourish but I want to still see a vet signed.

that is backing down on my praise? that is all i said about this to start. you raised it to the level of making me look like my thinking was he's all pro some how and that was never the case. i haven't backed down from my original statement about him or any of the others in that room. i didn't make up his numbers. it's not like he did it against a D3 team. they were against the NFL.

you can say all you want about how the giants didn't agree, but there is just as much praise starting in year 1 that says otherwise. as i had said there was a coaching change by his 3rd year and was the same change for roche. that's when both fell out of favor and lost playing time.

if they can help this team in any way so be it. if not i'm sure the steelers are smart enough to move on. for now they think there is something there to look at. they even drafted roche and never got to see what he could do in our system. not every player fits every scheme well.

That is very often an excuse made for players who simply played poorly, but by all means, go with that. They both remain refugees from the scrap heap.
