He looks pretty darn good through two games. Do you think he'd have been a Steeler if Worilds hadn't retired?

It's fun to speculate but with the Steelers luck had they drafted Peters something would have gone terribly wrong.

We would've had to trade up a little bit to get him. I think he was taken 18th. Maybe we would've been a little more tempted to move up if we already had our OLB situation shored up, but I still doubt it.

I don't think we would have moved up for him, but it's possible that he would have been the pick if he fell to us (even with Worilds retiring). It seemed like we really liked him. I have only seen highlights of the Chiefs' first 2 games, so I've seen the big plays. However, I haven't had the chance to see his play by play performance as a Chief yet. SportsCenter and NFL Total Access will show highlights and portray someone as a star if they make a highlight reel play - even if they are mediocre on most snaps. I had two concerns about Peters coming out. First was the fact that he was kicked off his college team for poor conduct. We'll never know exactly what happened there, but it's a red flag, and it raises the possibility of something blowing up in the future. My second concern was that he had tackling issues in the several college games that I watched. Not Holliman-bad, but similar to what we saw from Allen and Blake last week. He also had a tendency to gamble and give up big plays. The gambling will lead to turnovers, but can be a two edged sword. Overall, I think both DuPree and Peters are likely to pay dividends for us and KC, but I think DuPree was a lower risk, higher reward play, and I expect him to have a great career here. So.... I'm good with our pick and am not lamenting missing out on Peters at all.

I think Kevin Johnson was the more probable target

How is he doing? I haven't heard anything or bothered to look. I thought he was the most NFL-ready of the top CB's.

Most of the high ranked CB'S from the draft are playing well, we should have went and got Peters . The only answer for the quick passing game is a CB who can read the QB and read the route . These young CB'S are putting those skills on display early in their NFL careers .

A few more plays like the 1 Peters made last night and QB'S will stop throwing that quick stuff his way . I have no doubt had we drafted Peters we would be 1 and 0 instead of 0 and 1 . CB'S are to the D what the QB is to the O. Our DB's are of the Jamarcus Russel and Ryan Leaf Type ....

I was watching Peters and Talib last night and dreaming about what it must be like to have CBs who actually know how to play the position.

If these LBs the Steelers drafted in the first round Shazier, JJ, and Dupree don't become good players then they're screwed.

He hasn't cracked the starting line-up over Jonathan Joseph and Kareem Jackson, but seems to be getting snaps with their nickel/dime packages. 4 solos and 2 assts so far. I flipped back and forth through the Hou-KC game and didn't notice any big plays by him. Actually forgot he went to the Texans tbh. Peters got my attention though, he was always in position to make a play when thrown at.

Peters is who I wanted. He will be the next great CB. I like Dupree and believe he has upside but the Steelers missed on this pick.

I was against the Peters pick just due to the off-field problems. Looks like he is taking his profession seriously. Tough to predict at draft time, how the guy will mature.

If we could be assured that his off field issues would not re-manifest themselves, I'd trade any two of our CBs for him straight up today.

No you wouldn't they wouldn't take it ....We could offer every DB we have and I really believe they would turn it down...

I was the same way as well all the off the field stuff had me worried. In Peters case something was fishy cause the school kicked him off then if I remember right paid for him to go to another school right? Anyways don't much matter he was drafted before we picked which I am glad happened cause if we passed on him could you imagine what we all would be saying???????

Oh for sure .... No doubt about it....I would give them J.J. and Dupree . Not saying those 2 are bad players just their value to the Team compared to the value of a good DB would be ...People gave Ike hell and he did get burnt by some good WR'S from time to time ,but at least we had someone we could trot out there and try and match up ...

Now QB'S look at the OL and say just give me a second then they look at the WR'S and say just catch it and hold onto it I know you will be open ...That's why midgrade QB'S look like Montana against us they have all the confidence in the world against our D.

And he would been coached by Lake and probably cut like Doran Grant and added to the practice squad.

If you are referring to the pick six I am going to have to disagree PWP. That play had like 3% to do with Peters and 96.5% to do with Manning's arm strength being next to nothing. Brady or Brees makes that throw and it is out in front of Thomas with a heck of a lot more zip on the ball, Peters would have gone for the pick and missed it giving up some serious YAC. Ben wouldn't have thrown it because Thomas isn't college open and would have been running around extending the play. Peters looked good at times due to Manning floating that ball the whole game and at other times he got flat out beat. Thomas boxing him out on a 15 yard completion springs to mind. His play looked better because of the play of the front seven and the skill set of guys he was covering. D Thomas has skills but he isn't a Dez Bryant, AB or Megatron and they would have made Peters look like the rookie he is. Us getting excited about his play is equal to Collinsworth trying to say Browner had a good game against AB giving up 9 of 10 for 130 plus a touch. at times it looked better than what it was. That being said he could be the Steelers #1 Corner if he stepped on the field today for them.

Agree 100% on that play being all about Manning. He has zero arm strength left. Every good completion that I saw against the Chiefs was all about timing. He was throwing way earlier than any other QB would throw, and absolutely had to have his guys at the spot that he was throwing to early. props to Peters for making the play on the under thrown ball, but it wasn't a special play by any means.

Johnson or peters wouldve been great here... and i can understand why we didnt get hightower but we shouldve gotten upshaw and that wouldve solved alot of problems.JJ has some type of medical problem .I thought that would be an issue, but it turns out that he is just not a 1st rd guy.
