Not to be one of those guys, but I find it odd he goes out of his way to punctuate "y'all," but cannot capitalize Pouncey, nor use the right "role" (sic).

I don't live in Pittsburgh. Has the Gilbert rolling up on people thing become big there? Or is he reading our board? :hehehe:

So because a player is a public figure (or a CEO or anyone in the public eye) they cannot say anything bad back to fans/the public because they "pay his salary" and such? Especially when people can "bash"/etc him....he cant say anything back to them because he's a public figure and the fans help pay his salary? Thats just dumb! And just like you said that you "have every right to bash any player who I think isnt playing up to far"...he has everything right to defend himself or share his own thoughts/etc on what you and others say to him if he feels the need to do so. While some people may not like what he and other public figures say...and they may think its stupid what they say or do...but thats their own opinion on that. In this day and age everything seems to get blown outta proportion by the people, the media and so on...this really isnt as bad as some make it out to be...but I'm sure we'll see articles popping up everywhere online about it and all.

What he said or other players have said I havent taken personally (regardless if I might have dissed them here or whatever or not) and it doesnt bother me one bit. I'm still going to be a fan and still going to watch them and still going to buy merchandise/etc just like any real fan would.

I think you miss the point. The whole sports phenomenon is based off popularity. While it's not like politics, you should have some reservation about name calling the people that generate the revenue stream.

I don't give a crap either way, but it's just common sense. Shut your mouth and play ball. There are better ways to respond to it if you do decide to respond that don't leave you open to the "attacking the fans" mantra.

I know that...but still the situation should remain the same...just because someone may gain or loose popularity in life doesnt mean they cant speak their mind/etc. No matter which way you say it...popularity...the people pay their salaries...they're in a highly regarded position....they're famous...whatever. Its still their right to speak out if/when needed regardless of the situation and I have no problem with what Gilbert said. Yes he could have not said "you clowns" and people would have probably not thought twice about it...but oh well...he did and its not the end of the world.

Many fans are clowns. All you do is read this message board for the proof you need. Read through this post, you should be asking what's wrong with this team's fans?

I saw enough of Gilbert last year against the Brown's rookie Jabaal Sheard
to form an opinion of Gilbert, he has along way to go. And I am
not sure he WILL EVER GET TO THE PLACE HE NEEDS TO BE AT.
Another poor evaluation of OL by the PGH Steelers.

Yes you're right he can and should speak his mind and he can and will gain and lose popularity with the fans he spoke his mind about. It's just as much the fans right in this free country to not like him for his words and or overreact.

The fact that he's on responding to the buzz, means he obviously cares to some extent and wants to set the record straight.

I think Heath takes a step back in the receiving department this game. Pope and Paulson can't do it...wouldn't it be nice to have Saunders to help with that?

Hey maybe that should be our new Trap play when Gilbet gets back....

Colon can't seem to find a player in another Jersey to hit and Gilbert can only get knocked into our guys..So why not have Colon trap on Gilbert ,he should be able to because he gets to practice against our Team all the time....This will save Gilbert from rolling up on our other guys and at least then Colon's pulling would be of some value...

I know I was tough on Gilbert from the start but after watching Adams play I think the offense will miss Gilbert. What I saw from Adams that bothers me is when he gets beat he dives at the legs and while I'l give him credit for the effort it seems useless and when Ben gets hammered and the ball comes out he won't be in a position to recover the fumble as he will be on the ground. The other thing is he seems to get beat because he doesn't have the foot work down and that could be the fact of not getting much practice but he needs to get better in a hurry.
