Let's assume that this guy acted in <cough>self defense.<cough>

Let's assume he was <ahem> in fear for his life. <hack>

    Let's further assume <cough> he truly <yawn> was <spit> innocent. <wretch>

I STILL don't understand how he could sue Adams for being arrested and charged. Is it just me? Am I on crazy pills???

If (big if) their version of the story is true, they could certainly sue him for slander/libel or for a variety of other things.

Bottom line is now he's a bust and he has legal issues. I'm sure glad the FO felt sorry for him and drafted him.

If false testimony led to his arrest, he can sue. Most likely he's hoping for a quick settlement, because I have a hard time imagining him winning in court. He could have easily evaded a clumsy 6'7 340 lbs "drunk" rather than confronting him.

But there's the rub. Police don't arrest/charge you based only on testimony. If they did, Ben would at least have been arrested and charged.

So how is his confinement Adams fault? Blame the DA. Blame your own lawyer. Blame yourself. Blame bad luck.

Actually, forget it. This is a world where everyone is looking for the quick buck by going sue happy to begin with. Maybe I'm just a little (a lot) jaded.

He's suing because he spent 11 months in jail and was acquiited of charges and the one that was stabbed is worth a million bucks and a Lawyer smells a potential payday.

I'm not surprised by this. When a villain becomes a victim because the victim can be seen as a wealthy villain then legal sharks come to feed.

Apparently that doesn't matter. Or maybe the judge and jury were dumb enough to believe he faked and lied about that too.

And for anyone asking who would confront a man that big, you're not familiar with gangs and that mentality.

Not quite sure what the basis is for the lawsuit. But I'm sure he's got some ambulance chaser of a lawyer who says its worth a shot.

By that same logic, I think I'm going to sue McDonald's because my burger only had one pickle. It's scarred me for life!

And the hot coffee set a precedent...
And led to ridiculous warning labels on products we buy every day in the stores...
I`m not gonna get into this, because, I will completeley go off, and blow a gasket!
Then I might have to sue the Steelers Board!...
No, I`m not raised that way...
When I got both my legs broke, getting hit by a car, on my way home from school... I wanted to sue like hell!!!
Now, I thank my parents for reminding me, that I was the one at fault, for crossing in the middle of the block, and not watching where I was going...
Hated them for it then, but understand now.
Had I been the young girl driving that car, when a young kid ran out in front of her, and gave her no time to react, I would have felt bad enough, without having to try to defend myself in court.. Age often brings perspective...
I`m still sick of the sue-happy nature of our country, where you can be sued by a home invader, for shooting them, while they break into your house, to rob you, or worse...
That is what this case reminds me of more than, someone using the legal system, to try to rectify a legitamate miscarriage of justice.
Especially, when the person being sued, has a large bank account, that worthless people, assume, will settle out of court to just "make it go away"...
I`ve already said more than I meant to, but, Since I weighed in on the Adams thing when it first happened, and said, maybe he should have just been at home at that time of night, I felt compelled to say...
    I was wrong.
I still don`t know what happened that night. Never will... Wasn`t there...
But the more I read about the evidence presented in court.. Adams wasn`t in the wrong.
Yet, he is going to be in court as a "defendant" in a civil suit...
    What a system!!!
There`s a reason I have "Halls of Justice Painted Green... Justice is Raped", Along with the Lady Justice from Metallica`s And Justice For All album, tattooed on my arm...
It`s the truth! More than enough said...
    GO STEELERS!
Hope you get vindication, Mr. Adams!!!:praying::flag::steelflag:

Agreed, Crav, But justice is supposed to be blind. Regardless of money... Yeah, RIGHT!
Not gonna get into it here, but "Justice" is influenced by money, on a daily basis.
    Also,
How many Athletes/ Celebrities have to defend themselves from frivolous lawsuits, just because they have a bank account to go after?
(Edit... OR... Get away with a slap on the wrist, when a "common Joe", would do time?)
    GO STEELERS!!

Most coffee should be brewed at least 195 degrees as anything less than that doesn't get a good extraction. How many times have I actually spilled something that hot on my lap?
    :offtopic:
OFF TOPIC! for a bit, everyone can read the facts of that McDonald's case here: https://www.ttla.com/index.cfm?pg=McDonaldsCoffeeCaseFacts

It's still stupid as hell to think that you're only 20 percent at fault for removing the top on a Styrofoam cup while in an automobile at a stop sign while that cup in between your legs and has 190 degree liquid in it. Not adequately warning customers that the coffee was hot and could cause burns......I understand most people don't drink it at that temp, but it is brewed that high.
