I look at it this way, in almost any other sport's league, especially any European football league, Tomlin would've been fired a long time ago. It's not my call to say whether or not he deserves to be fired, or not.

Big thing for me is that Steelers are embarking a new era of Steelers football and Tomlin represents the old era, much like Renegade. It's definitely time for a new set of eyes on the sidelines.

This isn't so much a knock on Tomlin, just It's time for a new direction. Tomlin will be in the HOF and deserves that reward for having a great career.

I doubt Colon has any inside information and is just connecting dots. You can only go so many years without a playoff win before your seat gets hot.

Some comments by Rooney after the season plus no extension yet seem to back that up.

I think that tips the hand that both sides are set to go their separate ways. I don't necessarily think it means he'll be fired or his seat is warm. My only question regarding this is why waste a season, when we could be already going in a new direction? Loyalty is a good thing, but if both sides are ready to move on, let's move on yesterday and not in January.
