More than just revenue, according to this article:

    http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...te-hart-lane-change-world-sport-a8582301.html

It’s basically arguing the international series is a blueprint for other sports wanting international leagues.

I still think the appeal of the games is to people already in to the sport, though. The NFL believes it’s own hype a little too much on these things.

MLB makes a ton of $ outside the US, in Latin America and Far East. The NBA is followed intensely all around the world. The NHL markets to Europe. All these leagues play games outside North America. The NFL is trying to tap into that money too.

I travel internationally for work, I'm always surprised how many people follow the NFL. In Europe and Australia it makes some sense. Ive had a shocking number of detailed NFL conversations with Brazilians. Their money spends too.

I don't have much problem with taking the game international. Hell, when ever Euro soccer teams play here, I go when I can.

Somehow they need to inflate the significance of one lonely SB ring after what, 51 years in the making, not to mention 2 losses. :roflmao:

The difference is all the U.S sports leagues you listed have players from around the world playing in them, and those sports have been played professionally in other countries for years.
Aside from place kickers, there are (and were) only a few NFL football players from outside the U.S.

Do you give a rats backside where the players on your team come from? Not if they perform, you don't. And the NFL fans abroad don't care either.
So because they're aren't any UK players, people in England can't be football fans? They like the game, and they want to see it at the highest level. Their money spends. The NFL would like some of it.

The league formerly known as NFL Europe begs to differ.

Yup, the Euros don't want to watch minor league football any more than I want to want to watch Second Division English soccer or the MLS, for that matter. They see the real deal on TV, They want to see the real deal live. And they'll pay to do it.

You watch much CFL or Arena Football? Me neither.

For 30 years my wife has told me she has no desire to go to London. Now, while watching the game, she turns and asks if I would like to go to London.

I found London pretty damn cool. Damn people can't speak English right:) If you think New York is crowded, London will blow you away. Take a cab if you go and freak out ever time they make a turn.
