I will only believe it when Schefter or Rappaport report. Literally everything they say about the Steelers always turns out to be true. They are the ultimate Steelers insiders. Tomlin actually attends THEIR press conferences.

There is something that does not seem right, when a player says when he is going to report to camp. Seems very like a non team player....Whats he trying to prove..

That's the day after the last preseason game. Right or wrong, he is clearly trying to eliminate chances of injury. On a 1 year contract, I understand his logic. That gives him 9 days to practice and bond with the team. That is plenty.

After reading the twitter feed, I was reminded why I don't read twitter. It's just a series of posts by knuckleheads who want to voice their opinions!

    Hey, wait a minute...

I know it would set us back and be wasted but I would love it if they pulled the tag right when his plane landed.

I know I'll get over it if he comes back and has a monster season, but right now I'm like F.U., especially posting a date in the future. He put himself above the team, and there's not much more you can do to lose my respect.

    Let's go #30!!!

This is literally at the bottom of my list of worries for the Steelers this season. I see it as a non issue. I'd bet that there isn't a player in the locker room who is going to be ticked at Bell for this. They know it's a business. Some may think he was foolish for turning down the contract offer, but as long as he comes back in shape and puts in a week of hard work to get ready, it will be a non issue in the locker room.

The only players ticked will be the ones who couldn't do the same thing.

Most hold outs tend to have bad years.I don't think Bell will be as good this year because of the missed time .He is not going to sign a future contract so I would consider a trade this season if the price was right .

That price to me would be a good DB and a high draft pick .

He hasn't held out. He doesn't have a contract.
Most hold outs actually hold out for a big chunk of the season, don't stay motivated, and that's why they have poor years.
He may still sign a future contract. At the very least, he is a steeler for next year if they want him.
I don't believe a trade can be made.
    Other than that, I agree.

Ok, up until now I've thought his waiting was just business, not trying to get hurt, and he wasn't being selfish, and the other players would understand, blah, blah. Now, in my local Hooterville paper I read Ben has texted Bell a couple of times and has not gotten a response. Now that doesn't sound very team mate oriented. I just soured on him.

It might be bad for the overall team, but he should ride the pine for a while.

Being in shape and being in football shape is worlds apart, will take him at least

3-4 weeks to hit his playing capabilities. That's if he doesn't injure himself in the process.

Not to cast a negative light over the new Haden signing, but I was just thinking something.

If Haden works out and we pay him 7M this year and potentially 10M each over the next 2 years:

What does that mean for Bell?

If we pay Haden big bucks for 3 years, is that essentially it for #26 in the Burgh?

If Hayden works out, a big IF? Bell's playing days in the Steel City have just about ended.

Couple things. The thought that Bell is going to take time to hit his stride is laughable. The man has missed the beginning of every season, or just about and hit the ground running. He'll be fine.

The other thing, Bells days in the Burgh were over after next season regardless of the Haden contract. He wants money the Steelers were never going to pay.

The Steelers want him to stick around but not at a high price, I think they are hoping a championship run, his teammates camaraderie, and the family like atmosphere would help him see that a nice 12 to 14 million a year with two years fully guaranteed still resets the market and makes him very well to do. If not then yeah you will be rapping about not getting fully guaranteed money some where out of the 412
