Ben isn't going anywhere, until he retires or does some boneheaded thing that the Rooney's
will get rid of him for. Ben needs to accept change, his game and decision making will need to change
in order for him and the Steelers to get maximun potential out of him. This will be the utmost
important part of the new OC job.

I'll tell you one thing. If we do not get a Oline in front of Ben and he continues to take the hits he is taking so far. We will not have to worry about trading him because he will be so banged up we will lose him for good with injuries.

    How's that?

They were 3-1 when he was suspended.

Charlie Batch beat the Rams this year in Ben absents.

    Now they have Troy Smith.

And quite frankly, I am not high on Ben right now.

There are some options like the draft this year, a block buster trade, or the new OC who could make things happen.

You think the Cardinals would take him. They need a QB bad. Purhaps they would give us their 1st round pick, their 2nd round pick, and that CB return man Patrick Peterson for Ben. We could draft a QB in the second round.

The Cardinals have the 13th pick in the draft, who's available at 13?

    Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama
    Jonathan Martin, OT, Stanford
    Cordy Glenn, OG, Georgia
    Zebrie Sanders, OT, Florida State
    Janoris Jenkins, CB, North Alabama
    Lamar Miller, RB, Miami
    Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor
    Dont'a Hightower, LB, Alabama
    Brandon Thompson, DT, Clemson
    Mark Barron, S, Alabama

The more I think about it the better it sounds, trading Ben.
The Vikings at 3 might be willing. RG III would come into play!
The washington Redskins would probably want to trade, they have the 6th pick in the draft. RG III might come into play!
The Dolphins at 8/9 need a QB, they might be willing.
The Cardinals at 13 but I would insist that Peterson the CB be included in the deal.

If we could trade Ben and get RG III in the dr4aft, it would be worth it.
If we could trade Ben to the Cardinals and get their CB Patrick Peterson and their 1st & 2nd round picks, it would be a steal for us!

How about a Deal for Trading Ben

Trading Ben. The more I think about it the better it sounds.

With Detroit, Ben and our 1st round pick for Suh and Stafford. A steal for us but not for them.

You think the Cardinals would take him. They need a QB bad. Purhaps they would give us their 1st round pick, their 2nd round pick, and that CB return man Patrick Peterson for Ben. We could draft a QB in the second round.

    Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor
    Dont'a Hightower, LB, Alabama
    Brandon Thompson, DT, Clemson
    Mark Barron, S, Alabama

With the Cardinals 2nd round pick we take a QB!!

The more I think about it the better it sounds, trading Ben.

The Vikings at 3 might be willing. RG III would come into play! Also, their best player would need to be inclded in the deal.
The washington Redskins would probably want to trade, they have the 6th pick in the draft. RG III might come into play! Also, their best player would have to be included in the deal.

If we could trade Ben to the Cardinals and get their CB Patrick Peterson and their 1st & 2nd round picks, it would be a steal for us!

Now might be the perfect time to do it.

Are you out of your mind!!??!!

Im going to give you the cliff notes version of why this is the worst idea i have ever heard...

The NFL is a QB driven League...
Ben is a top 5 QB....

Teams without top 5 Qb talent... Sehawks, Browns, Dolphins, Redskins, Cardinals, Colts (not counting manning) Jags, Titans, Chiefs, Bears(with Cutler Hurt)--------What do all these teams have in common...THEY SUCK and came nowhere near making the playoffs besides a few exceptions

Teams WITH top 5 Qb talent Patriots Super Bowl, Giants Super Bowl, PAckers 15-1, Saints 13-3, Lions 10-6 High Powered Offense , Us 12-4

    The Defense Rests

Who is going to be the QB? I don't know how old you are but someone here mentioned it already, 1984-2003. Tommy Maddox, remember him? He was the BEST QB th team had unti 2004, what does that tell you. Want to know what this team looks like without Ben? Take a good hard look at the Jaguars, they have a denfens that could win games if they had an offense that could compete, they even have a good O-line and RB but the lack of a QB makes them pretty much out of the picture when talking about playoffs and championships. I saw the other post about getting Stafford and Suh, I think Suh would be great but how long does Stafford last behind the o-line the Steelers put on the field? We wouldn't be talking about how many games he would last, it would quarters and possibly what minute of the first quarter does Stafford take the season ending hit? Seriously, even QBs like Peyton Manning and Brady would struggle behind the line the Steelers have and I know, he holds on to the ball too long but what about the times were even a 3 step drop isn't quick enough? Don't say that didn't happen, I remember watching a game this season were Ben couldn't even hand the ball offat times as he was getting hit, so go ahead, trade him and then get ready to endure the 20 years it takes to find a franchise QB, just ask the Jets, thaey haven't found one since Namath.

this is the best...basically hes willing to trade our top 5 Qb for a rookie Qb straight up....

    GM of the year...............NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So... Six teams have top 5 QBs?

And let's also not forget that we got Tebowed with our top 5 QB... who appears to rank #6 among the top 5...?????

With Arians gone, the target of members of this board has clearly shifted to Roethlisberger.

TTF - maybe you should work on a Trade Ben Roethlisberger Immediately emoticon for next year.

They talk about trading everyone else. What does it hurt to discuss trading Ben? He's a player on the team, just like the others. He is not immune to discussion.

This idea about trading Ben needs to be extinguished immediately.

I dont even need stats here. The QB has the ability to win games and make plays by himself when the rest of the team isnt playing up to par. Our QB has helped us win many games when the rest of our team wasnt playing well. Sure he also plays poorly at times and costs us games, but can you name another player that can will this team to victory like Ben does?

If we trade him, then who are the remaining leaders on the team? Since players like Ward/Hampton/Farrior are nearing the end of their careers, who are the leaders? Right now Ben is the clear leader, especially on offense (he is the oldest offensive starter), but who would lead without him?

If you want to trade people, look at Wallace and perhaps Brown if the deal is right. Would you trade Wallace and Brown for Calvin Johnson? Would Johnson/Sanders/Cotchery/Ward/draft pick be better than Wallace/Brown/Sanders/dradt pick? I think so and I think the majority of rational fans would agree.

I would also trade Wallace straight up, if I could, for a player like Gronkowski.

If we want to make trades, thats fine, but Ben shouldnt and wont be in the deal.

I don't think the Team wants to trade Ben ,but I am sure they are willing if he refuses to get on board....Art still believes more in the Defense from my take....He is also a smart Bus guy so he wants his investment to help protect its self..He also knows that Physical Football still has a place as he stated people are putting to much stock in the passing game.....

Plus if you watch the Tapes you will see that the Patriots turned to the running game more the last 6 games per Bill,,,even with Brady....He stated we must run the ball if we intend to continue through the post season.....Do you think Art didn't hear and watch that unfold??? I did and the Pats with a sorry run game started tweaking the Calls using TE'S,Wr's, Qb's almost anyone and everyone to get more production from the running game.....

We actually had a real run game ,but failed to use it enough....We also failed to use the PA.....We failed to use RB'S and TE's in the passing game....If Ben is not willing to do that going forward he is as good as gone IMO.....So it's all on Ben not on the Organization.....

And to answer your Question I would trade the best player to ever play the game if he is not a true Team player and Art will do the exact same thing if need be....

This is just a discussion. Put the blood vessels back in your head, pimp. :lolol:

Regarding the GM statement... You don't have to worry about that since I'm not interested in any such position.

Also, for clarification... I am participating in the discussion, as a fan. I never said we should trade Ben. The discussion is what it would look like.

    Calm down, much? :lolol:

Oh I read it, player. And what I read was you saying that there are SIX teams with top FIVE QBs. Only the top 5 QBs can have top 5 QB talent. That's why they are referred to as: The top 5. How far Tebow made it, after the wildcard round, is immaterial to the argument. The argument is that you state you must have a top 5 QB to win, and that Ben is a top 5 QB. You further allude to the fact that if a team does not have a top 5 QB they won't win. In contrast, I question how you explain Ben getting Tebowed, and how six players can be in the top 5 (since you have provided no criteria other than saying top 5, then you are talking about 5 people, yet you list 6).

Meanwhile, in addtion to Ben getting Tebowed, Alex Smith bests Drew Brees. And Ben lost to Flacco twice, Alex Smith once, and Schaub once. None of whom are listed as one of your SIX top FIVE. Funny... all those teams have QBs that: 1) are not in your list of 6 top 5's, 2) went to the playoffs [but i guess these are your few exeptions of not-top-5's making the playoffs, along with Tebow, Matt Ryan, and Andy Dalton], and 3) advanced further than Ben, in the playoffs.

Of the six non-top-5's, four advanced further than Ben. It would appear, per your definition, that maybe Ben is not top 5? Maybe that's why you listed him as number 6? Maybe he is five with an asterisk? Ben = 5*? Or maybe... Just maybe... you're proving, via your own logic, that Ben is not top 5, and are making the case for those discussing his trade.

So, you wish I was the Ravens GM. And I'm glad you weren't my math teacher. :lolol:

I'll raise your very very very small sample size and raise you 21 years of futility. I mean really, that's your argument for justifying trading Ben? Beating the woeful Rams this year and 3 teams at the beginning of last season? And lets not forget they lost to the one true test without Ben, the Ravens.

This is good though, you guys keep it entertaining around here
