I like Butler already, one of the first things he talked about is the defense needs to get more pressure on the QB. Porter has said the same thing too, I expect the Steelers to be a lot more aggressive on defense than they have been the last few seasons.

 

Hell, let Shade Tree blow some guy 5 yards back and fill the gaps with who ever comes free out of the chaos!

 

I like that article and I don't like it as well. Maybe because there is truth there that I don't want to admit or maybe because some of the statements the author makes just rub me wrong just makes me go grrr.

Why? Was it Dick LeBeaus fault our stars got older and injured? that our rookies have been injured every year? that our healthiest LB retired early?

None of the problems on defense were lebeaus fault. ZERO.

Heres some advice you should be giving the steelers...

LETS HOPE SHAZIER, JARVIS JONES, ETC ARE NOT INJURED AND WE HAVE SOMEONE ON THE TEAM THAT CAN REPLACE TROY POLAMALU, IKE TAYLOR, and Jason Worilds

 

Well, you kind of answered your question there. You have to know when the stars aren't getting it done and pull the trigger or change things up. Not getting pressure and not adapting the defense fast enough is on the coordinator.

 

i'd have to say thats up to the front office and head coach to get the players for the coordinators.

 

Agreed, but it is also up to the coordinator to get the best players on the field from what he has and to train the youngsters. I believe many people feel this did not happen with DL.

 

I'm not sure the front office would be too happy if troy was on the bench at 8 mil. a year over say will allen or Robert golden either. a co-o can only play it the way the higher ups tell him to in most cases.

 

Well thats a problem then, with all the rookies injured and all the experienced old timers injured you had nothing to work with... or Dick LeBeau had nothing to work with.

last year we had shazier injured, Jarvis, IKE, Polamalu, Cortez Allen etc etc. Who was there to start in the secondary you say? Brice McCain and Antwon Blake..... and an older Willy Gay. For LBs we had harrison....beast going after QB but worthless at 36 yrs old dropping into coverage, and Jason Worilds who was an average to middling quality LB.

So who is Dick L supposed to bench and who is he supposed to start instead given last years roster?

and what changes should we have made on the D line? they were already using tuitt, mccullers was still very green, bench cam thomas ok fine but how much did he play?

Dick LeBeau was working with duck tape and rubber bands last year.
