He was my pick thats for sure. I wanted to double dip at CB for the last 2 drafts. If we had better CB'S we could let both our Safeties get in the box and support the run.

:this!:I wanted them to double dip at CB this year because the draft was deep at that position. They just don't value the position it seems.

I think that is their plan next draft. I believe it is their hope that the guys up front will start getting to the QB, a good pass rush will make any secondary look better but even a good secondary will get shredded with no pass rush.

Been said a zillion times on here but I agree with it, you build from the front back.

Agree that the Dline is more important than the back end, but we aren't showing an improved ability to get to the QB. At some point they have to stop hoping these guys will pan out and do something different

I can`t speak for RobVos, but, I THINK what he was getting at, was the new rules in place for practices...
Maybe not brand new, but they recentley limited the amount of hitting you can do in practice, how many times you can put the players in pads, etc...
If you want to "practice fundamentals"(Like tackling)...
This severely limits your ability to do so.
Not that these guys should have to practice things that should have been taught to them to get to the million dollar athlete level, but...
I think that`s what he was talking about, more than the financial restrictions...
    I could be wrong.
In the spirit of the original post...
It`s hard to go "Chuck Noll", on these guys, when you can`t force them to put on pads, and practice the things they should already know!
As he said... "If I have to motivate you, you don`t belong here."... or sumthin like that!
    GO STEELERS!

I don't agree now days.5 years ago going against pro sets then yes ,but facing 3 wide and more most of the time the DB'S are the most Important part of a D. You just stated our problem ,building from the front 1st. is exactly wrong.

I disagree. I'll take a great pass rush over a great secondary all day long.

Don't forget stopping the run, it changes how teams play and makes them do things they don't want to do.

I get get that they're talking about practice rules in the CBA. What I don't get is why somehow these changes supposedly affect the Steelers more than the other 31 teams that live under the same rules. That's what I want to have someone explain.

Methinks it ain't the CBA that's effecting this team, but rather the level of talent and depth as compared to a few yrs ago.

The CBA doesn't affect us more than any other team in the league and anyone who says otherwise is lying to themselves

Very true, I should be saying a great line that can stuff the run and rush the passer.

With the gun you have no pass rush if you can't play tight coverage.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with you.
The other teams have the same restrictions...
And right now, I think it`s depth, more than anything(because I just don`t want to admit that our talent is lacking, when you look at Ben, Heath, A. Brown, Bell, Decastro, Pouncey, etc...)...
On the other side, I have faith in Timmons, Troy, Keisel, Heyward, McClendon, and, umm, yeah...
What was that you said about talent, and depth?
    Our age is showing...
I believe Shazier was a great pick. he`s only gonna get better. Hopefully Jarvis Jones, Shamarko Thomas, etc, will too...
I love McCullers size, but he`s got a way to go, to get better...
After that what do we have?
Spence, and Garvin at LB... Where are our cb`s?
    I`m hopin....
    Botom line...
You DO NOT run on the Steelers!
That used to be a truth... Now, Not so much....
    I miss my DEFENSE!!!!:butcher::kemo::thumbsdown::club::steelflag:
