i was thinking to myself

Could be worse. I was all over the Mexican Riviera when that song (and Dance[??]) came out and there was no escaping it anywhere for...........about 100 years. At least it felt that way.

 

My wife (before she was) and I were in Cancun in June '95 and that song was in every club. After a week we were sick of it. And that was before it was popular in the states. That took another 9 months. I remember picking my brother in law and his friend up at Greater Pitt after their Spring Break and it came on the radio and I was like ugh!, but they were saying how it was a new song and was all over their SB. Had to endure another run of it on US radio. Still reminds me of that vacation...kind of like Venga Bus (there's another ear worm for you!) reminds me of our cruise in '01.

 

in "95, I took a boat to Nassau and thought I was finally free of that God-awful dirge when, lo and behold, the booze cruise came past us playing..............? You guessed it! I'd rather listen to "Sopa de Caracol" another 10,000 times!
