Ah, I see that now. The thread was discussing Willis and Dobbs and I skimmed over what Knox had posted and thought he was referring to Willis. My bad. I think you’re spot on with your comments on Willis. I have a hard time understanding how any team could have had a first round grade on him.

I can not, and will not get behind a Qb that can't play predominately in a pocket passer situation. All the rules help the Qb in that situation.....why draft, and get a Qb just to piss into the wind????

If you believe Dulac, the Steelers had a first-round grade on him. Of course, I don't believe Dulac, who was trying to save face after blowing it in his article the morning of the first round.

I wrote at the time that I would have been happier with Hill or Linderbaum in the first round but didn't mind going for Pickett. More than anything, I was happy that they didn't take Willis. Based on what I've seen so far, I'm a little more comfortable with Pickett than I was in April and I'm not even sure taking Willis in the third round would have been a good idea.

I know but eventually they may be all that is available and thus is the reason you are seeing more College and even HS approaches to Offense if you will...I do Agree a pure passer who can run if needed is best , but what do you do when most if not all of those guys are gone ? Hang with my math for a minute ,,even at the HS level it is a win now at all cost or you will get booted the best Athlete usually finds his way to the QB spot in that regard,,now does the Coach work to teach him or does he use his ability to win and keep his job ?

IMO the play of the QB will directly effect how guys who Coach them approach them and sadly more and more kids are not going to get the time and experience they need to learn the job the right way ...Look at Hurts he won the whole thing and got benched how many coaches can and will do that and survive?

No My Friend....I totally agree, and believe Me I've seen , and watched it happen, but doesn't mean I enjoy, or like it.
Thing is ....if Guys that are better Pocket passer are still the ones winning SBs....they will still be the ones sought after.

I was referring to Dobbs. By all accounts a great dude and obviously very intelligent. But I don't see an NFL QB.

Happy New Year Steeler Nation. I live in the Nashville area and an avid TN Vols fan and of course love our Pittsburgh Steelers.

It’s a very interesting situation in Nashville as Dobbs played better than anticipated against a good Dallas D. Plus the Titans only have one starter healthy on the Oline.

Dobbs made mistakes but the coaches gave him a very limited game plan against a strong defense. They rested Henry & Willis to eliminate any risk of injury.

Dobbs had been in town less than a week and read the play book on his flight from Detroit to Nashville. He is very intelligent and able to grasp the basic concepts to give the offense a bit of a spark.

The Titans didn’t expect Dobbs to play as well as he did so now Vrabel has a decision to make. He never thought Dobbs could potentially be a starter Vs Jaguars, but here we are.

Don’t be surprised if Dobbs starts Vs Jax. If Willis starts and struggles, then I could see Dobbs relieving him as this is a must win game.

I couldn’t care less but like Dobbs and would like to see him get an opportunity to play.

He is the ultimate team player and I will never forget him apologizing for studying for aeronautical exam/project instead of watching more film.

Go Steelers and let’s hope we can extend our playoff hopes one more week.

I likewise don’t live near people

Our local downtown for my postal area is 5 miles away

At one time there was a train station gas station hotel post office and general store

    It was one building

    It’s now closed

My wife was from the desert of New Mexico it was 102 miles to the next town

Yeah, my bad. Scribe pointed that out to me. I agree that Dobbs seems like a good guy but his ceiling is a competent backup and I think he’d have a hard time displacing most backups around the league. We seem to like to recycle former Steelers so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in camp next year with the likely departures of both Mitch and Mason.

I’m right like always… Dobbs is dealing. He will have more meaningful wins than Mason Jagoff.

Where are all the Malik Willis fans? If he is so great, then how did Josh Dobbs beat him out? I know there are a few regulars here who wanted Willis over Pickett.

No. Another universe we develop Dobbs. Never waste picks on Rudolph and Pickett. We address the o-line last draft. We’d be in the same spot currently if not better. If Dobbs doesn’t pan out then draft QB in two years and we got a decent o-line for rookie QB.

This could be a better path if Pickett doesn’t pan out.

I like Dobbs. He looks confident. But I still like to see the Jags win. When is the last time the Jags made the post season?
