I am happy for Dobbs. He looked good in his start and I wonder if he starts in that all important game next week against the Jags. If so, what does that say about Willis?

and man, Mom and Dad look like lots of fun.

Willis isn't even close to being ready to be an NFL starter. He is completely lost in the passing game.

Dobbs is at least competent, though I still don't think he protects the ball well enough. He fumbled twice and threw two balls to Dallas defenders. He just got lucky that Diggs dropped the first one.

That isn't an excuse for throwing passes into coverage or not having a good feel for the pass rush, which led to both fumbles.

They both suck. Maybe Willis will develop someday, but Dobbs is what he is. Not sure why there is such an obsession over him on this forum.

Just a thought on Dobbs but being 6 years removed from college he will probably have a hard time finding an aerospace job

Who would you rather hire the guy who hasn’t thought about it for 6 years or the kid right out of college

It reminds me of Babe Laufenberg, who was a sixth-round pick by Washington in 1983. He kept having these great moments in preseason games and the fans seemed to love him, though he never actually took a snap in a regular-season game. He ended up playing 16 regular-season games for the Saints, Chargers, and Cowboys. He even started seven games, but he was really bad.

To be fair, it is more than that. People see the athleticism and the strong arm and hear about how smart the guy is and think somehow that has to make him a great quarterback, but it doesn't. He just can't seem to put it all together. He is great in a classroom and even on the sideline, but the processing speed just isn't there when the ball is in his hands. He just doesn't make enough good decisions.

A big part of good decisions is Coaching.. Is he a pocket QB who needs to be reading the entire field ? No he is not .. Is he the full time Starter being asked to protect the ball no matter what ? No he is not ? Was he put in the best spot this past start ? Nope only 1 week on the Team no real RB no WR that is above average or a TE who is above average facing 1 one the NFL'S top defenses...

Give him another week of practice get Henry back there and let Dobbs use the PA boot game with minimal reads not the entire field and you will see a much better version of Dobbs...

He may even get to make a playoff run and then we can continue this further ..

This. It's all about processing speed, and not anything else. Most Qbs have enough talent, and some are smart on the board, or film room, but it all comes down to processing speed. I believe You can get better, but in the main.....You either have it , or You don't.

Not a bad start considering that he only had the playbook for 8 days.,... Practiced with the 1's for 6, and played without Derrick Henry...... It's really the only full game he's been trusted with

I agree to a point the part I see different is the style in which his type are asked to play .. Is Jackson,Hurts, and Fields good at drop back only and process and read the entire field...No they are not zone read and zone read RPO as well as the Boot game with easier reads is employed into thei O'S to match the styleof their play ...Dobbs is similar to those guys not as explosive but similar ...

The times when Dobbs has looked good he used his feet to extend plays and made some nice throws on the run his very own Coach told him to stop ...Now the Titans have a chance to make the playoffs and make a run and as such Dobbs will get his zone read and zone boot playbook for the 1st. time in his NFL career You have to use those guys that way to see what they really can do ...

Henry going 1 way and Dobbs going out the other side with a RPO on the edge this will force the D to spy or stay home on the edge or play more zone as man to man a QB can run wild if the spy is not fast enough to catch the QB ..

I predict Henry will rush for 150 and Dobbs will run for 75 and a TD in a Titans win ..

    https://steelersdepot.com/2022/12/j...-skills-since-entering-nfl-before-last-night/

He did not get a chance...so tired of hearing this crap. Should he have been traded to Jacksonville, looking back no..but he was and had a chance there. Let's see, oh lost out to a couple of QB's drafted lower than him. Spent another year with the Steelers and could not beat out MR or Haskins. Fresh start in Cleveland, looked good in Preseason, but they still cut him when Jackson was activated.

Just read another article that we should bring him back next year because of this game. I'm not against it, cheap experienced back up...but come one, enough already...you did not get the opportunity because you sucked at the time. or someone sucked just a bit less than you.

Titans QB room is absolutely shyte. Dobbs would be the 4th best QB if he were still on the steelers and our QB situation is pretty much ass. The fact he is starting is less about him being a capable backup and more about how badly TN has been in acquiring QB talent. Why he was even drafted remains a head scratcher.

Just glad he wasn’t drafted by us. Do you think Tomlin would have drafted him in the first had Pickett not been available or was his Malik infatuation a smokescreen?

I think Knox was saying that Dobbs being drafted at all was a head-scratcher, not Willis. Given that Knox is a Tennessee fan, I'm sure he knew better than any of us what to expect of Dobbs coming out of college.

Willis has undeniable physical attributes, but I think people underestimated just how poorly prepared he was for the pros and how difficult it was to project him to the NFL. It's not just the adjustment he has had to make from playing such low-level competition in college. It was that he wasn't really tested in a way for scouts to properly evaluate him. The offense he ran was too simplistic. The talent around him on both sides of the ball was usually too weak. There was way too much guesswork going into his evaluations. Maybe the right staff can coach him up, but that's going to be a damn difficult thing to do.
