I see Vander filling more of the Shazier roll. Shazier doesnt get after the QB either and gets pushed around too. These guys are smaller than the lineman blocking them, of course they will get pushed around some. I know, he has about 20 pounds on Shazier but hes still 50-60lbs lighter then lineman.

140 tackles speaks for itself, they didnt all come uncontested.

Kid will be a stud in our defense, I know it.

I will go on record and say I do not like Vander Esch at 28. He is mid-second round prospect to me. One year starter at a program that is not exactly brimming with NFL talent. Below average technique when taking on blockers. Makes most of his plays when he is unblocked.

He is a great athlete and I love that he actually turns his head to locate recievers in the passing game instead of just looking at the QB's eyes and a fundamentally sound tackler. However, that is not enough to see him worthy of being in the first round. None of Boise's starting linebackers last year sniffed the NFL. And I can not get that hyped over a player that only has 1 year of film worth looking at.
