With Starks re-signing with the packers and we being real thin @ RB would he be a possible fit here.

I like the possible pairing of him and Bell wearing down defenses.

I would think they make a great one two punch but the fact that they are really similar would mean that the FO would have to look to sign or draft a scat back to compliment them.

I think he'd be a great pick up.

We have a scat back with blazing speed in Stephens Larod Howlings, he was injured last year but this guy has game....

I thought he was a FA and not under contract?

That's true but he could be resigned for cheap, he had an ACL tear last year, but he is the scat back we could certainly use to compliment Bell, the browns are toying with the idea to sign howlings but we should get him back on our roster....

I don't think we must have a scat back. A quick striking RB would be nice but honestly there is only so many snaps to go around. Blount & Bell could carry to ground game. Any snaps/handoffs going to the 3rd RB ( FB not included ) takes the ball away from a receiving weapon.

I think you can substitute a fast receiver in there to cut back against the grain on a motion play where the line is slanting one direction and the defense is worn down and immediately reads the line and over pursues but that is risky for your receivers where a 3rd string RB isn't a must have player. I'd probably settle for a few handoffs to the FB to keep teams guessing.

I like Blount a lot. Watched him a ton when he played for Oregon (times he wasn't suspended). He's got a mean streak about him and loves to punish defenders. he would be a great fit here.

Guys like SLH are a dime a dozen. Speed is his game. After coming off and torn ACL, I can't see how he can have that same speed.

I would love Hyde! However, I don't see him making it to our 3rd compensatory pick (maybe I'm wrong w/ his bad combine?)... would you take him in round 2 to basically take 5-8 carries a game? If he somehow made it to us at that spot, he would be really intriguing tho. I just don't want to take too many touches away from Bell. He could be special.

Yeah, if we had Blount we could give Bell between 18-24 touches per game. Blount between 5-8 touches, and short yardage duties?

A "scat back" like Dri Archer or D'Anthony Thomas would still provide value on ST's as a returner though. Plus they could be used in different packages to get a screen pass or two (as a RB or a slot WR), maybe a shovel pass or a reverse too. I doubt this type of back would have a huge role in the offense in terms of touches, but could still be a valuable guy nonetheless. Wouldn't draft one too high, but Archer and DAT are both later round prospects so I think one of these guys could definitely help us.

I was just about to post the same thing about Blount, he was a stud for New England at the end of last season. The Steelers could get back to smash mouth football.

maybe he would get more. 16 games and the playoffs is a long year to beat one guy. when you have two of equal quality, both would be fresher in the long run. archer would be 2-3 TD's .... i mean touches a game. LOL bell wasn't the only feature guy at mich.st. until his last year. maybe a bettis/parker scenario. carlos could be as good as bell in the run game and pass game. why have a drop off when the backup is in and why beat your feature guy up all year to have him gimmpy down the stretch? that's my thinking. i'd take him in the 2nd. it wouldn't bother me a bit if they went that route and commited to this type of offense. wear teams down then throw over the top. not really different then what we were doing. heck they put bell out at receiver at times and they still could with carlos as the RB. having to defend that would be tough to do.
