According to a headline I saw on NFL.COM Leftwich is apparently being looked at by the colts. What would that do for our qb situation if we lost him?

Not sure what else it would do other than make us need another backup QB.

It means absolutely nothing. Good ridence to the bum. Let him go along with his boy Bruce Arians. They can be buddy buddy like Ben and Arians were. He is too injury prone and has not played a whole season yet. Why hold on to a guy who has no worth to the team. Its time to let go of the past and look towards the future. They need to draft a future real backup to Ben. The two guys who are on the roster now, Troy Smith and Jerrod Johnson need to learn the offense while Charlie Batch is still around. One of them should make the team along with the draft pick.

Let Leftwich go for Christ sakes. Hopefully they draft a replacement for Big Snack and let him go!

No problem he will probably get injured in a preseason game then be on injured reserved list like he always seem to do with the Steelers. Charlie Batch will probably be back.

Yeah I was just wondering if this would change our approach to the draft if he leaves. Maybe we could use one of our compensatory picks to get another qb or something. I'm not saying I will miss Leftwich definitely. Just kinda wondering.

I have clouds and rain on my radar. It's not overly important to anyone either.

Leftovers got no looks when he was cut from the Steelers before. And he still won't get any looks from legitimate NFL coaches. Of course Bruce Arians doesn't fit into that category. Enjoy each others company Bruce and Byron. Good riddance to both of you. I still laugh my arse off about Leftovers talking the smack when he got here about being a starter. Dude is a tool.

Regardless Lefty had an opportunity to show well when he left the Jags but now his time is done .. If Indy is looking means they have zero propspects as a bu and Lefty wont even make a good backup at this point

Please let him go, Troy Smith will be Ben's back up.

It means we wouldn't have to go through the annual faff of placing him on IR. Practices would probably go quicker as well, as they wouldn't waiting ten minutes each time he was winding up to throw.

Hmm, maybe I'm being harsh there.

As I've said before, I have hopes for Troy Smith stepping it up here. An opportunity is opening for him if Lefty goes, and he would be foolish to not push for the number 2 role.

If Lefty does go, my guess is we either get someone in the 7th round, or a few UDFA's who will then sit on the practice squad.

It would leave us in the same position that we are in now. Ben,batch,DD.When lefty left to go to TB ....we shouldve left him there.

If Lefty left (sounds poetic), I suspect DD still will not make the team. With Charlie's age and ability to break down, I would anticipate an experienced BU being brought in. DD has proven to be a waste of a draft pick and he certainly is not better than a bunch of back up QB's we will be able to find later after the draft or into camp.

Meh. I like having Byron as a backup, but we could find someone just like him to fill in pretty easily.
