Let's not kick coach Lebeau when he's down. The man may not have been perfect, but we've had the best defense the past decade because of him. Thank you coach and best wishes!!

I've had that theory myself. I mean how are you gonna take Troy, James, Woodley, Timmons, Farrior, Kiesel, Foote, Hampton, Smith, and Ike off the field? It was a "good problem to have" though.

How crazy would THAT be? I bet the Bears would kill for him as well. Maybe we'll get Monte Kiffin? LOL. How about Bill Cowher??? Ok I admit I'm just trying to get people's heads to explode at this point.

Don't worry Myron because Mr. Rooney is about to move Tomlin to DC and bring back Cowher as HC. Then after BA tanks this next season he will return as OC and there will be perfect balance among the board. LOL.

Keenan Lewis. Cam Heyward. If it wasn't for Keisel's injury and Cam Thomas horrible play,Stephon Tuitt would have not seen the field much at all. Could add the special teams ace Shamarko Thomas. Why wasn't he injected into the fold?

Not that this was a hold back but he started Troy in the crows game when I believe Will Allen had some mojo working with Mitchell and the rest of the secondary. Troy made a difference didn't he?

    Time to move on.

I just wish he would have retired but as other has said, it was time to go in a different direction. DL was great but this is the new NFL where the rules get changed so the likes of Manning and company can put up video game stats with tons of scoring to attract new fans to the sport. DL has a scheme that was great but not in todays game, his zone blitz now gets picked up by just about every team in the league, when we need to get pressure we can't and I'm sorry, but we always end up giving up these 3rd and longs because he sends all the LBers into coverage knowing that the d-line has trouble except for Heyward. The cushions I think were him trying to compensate for poor CBs but there is one thing that can't be overlooked, the time it takes for guys to learn the scheme, every team will get some sort of play out of their 1st round pick on defense, our rookies will be at the end of their contracts before anyone knows if they can even play, with these short contracts now you have to have guys ready to play from day 1 and that isn't DL's way, Shazier starting was only because the defense needed help right away and DL knew that he had to change something. Part of me is very happy, and part is very sad, I'happy that a fresh set of eyes is going to be placed on the defense but I'm sad DL didn't retire and forced the hand of the Rooney's, so here is wishing DL the best and while I do love DL and every thing he has done for the Steelers, it was time to say goodbye and admit that the game has changed.

I was afraid he'd have to be forced out and that's the sad part really. I understand it in one way and have known people like DL that NEVER want to retire. They want to work until they have to be carried out. On the other hand, I think it's somewhat selfish. You're sticking around based on past reputation, not giving the next guy a shot, in some cases the next guy may be turning down other opportunities AND you're forcing ownership's/management's hand to force you out the door leaving a bad taste in everybody's mouth. This should have ended so much better. With LeBeau RETIRING with dignity and being given the honor that was due to him.

That was my exact immediate reaction.

As for Lebeau. It's bittersweet that he is exiting. He will find a home in the NFL. It feels just like the BA situation. I don't see DL being on the sidelines but up in a booth somewhere.
