DC was a stepdown from Head Coach.

Though I suppose moving from Cincinnati to Pittsburgh was a step up, so that move probably balanced out.

Yeah and now he's out there in Heisenberg country so I'm guessing he's back at the bottom.

A lot of 77 year olds move to AZ. It's warm there.

But not to work typically. This just further solidifies my thought that LeBeau would have NEVER voluntarily retired/resigned from his DC job in Pittsburgh. A linebackers coach? Really? Oh well, whatever floats his boat I guess.

I'd guess that if someone offered him a DC job, he'd have taken it. But nobody did. The guy apparently wants to work, he's offered a LB coach job, it's the best offer he's getting. Only two choices: take what's available or change your mind and go fishin.

It's really not strange. In the real world, I know guys who were VPs or Senior Mgrs who lost their jobs, they end up taking lesser jobs elsewhere because thats all they can get.

LeBeau was revered here, but something like 70% of the people who took the poll here wanted him out. I suspect a lot of teams were reluctant to hire a 77 yr old DC. That doesn't leave too many DC options.

If he doing what he wants and is happy, God love him.

The guy just loves the game and it's obvious. I think the fact that he's willing to take this job just sorta reinforces that. It wouldn't surprise me to see him just fall over on a sideline one day. I'm sure nothing would make him happier probably.

I hear ya, It's supposed to reach 80 here on Sunday but, LeBeau is too smart to take a position with the Chargers!

Opening day of training camp is scheduled to be 112 degrees..... Why Dick why? Just ride off into the sunset and enjoy the rest of your life, don't tarnish your legacy.

The NFL is all about what have you done for me lately, and Lebeau's results have been very subpar since 2009. I'm not surprised he didn't get another DC job

He been around Football so much he can't adjust to real life .I feel sort of the same way and only have 30 years or so in . I can only imagine his fear of not being involved in the game anymore .

Teams that need a DC aren't going to bring in a guy that is 77 and wait 3 to 4 years until the players understand the system, part of the reason his scheme wasn't great was it took too long to see who was good and who wasn't and by the time you got a good player he was off to another team. The era of free agency doesn't bode well for a DL defensive system.

If DL wants to be around the game so much he should just try and make a roster as an undrafted free agent. I mean he could probably help our secondary pretty well actually. LOL.

Yeah but the injury report would be kinda awkward with things like "enlarged prostate" and "arthritis" so it's probably for the best.
