    As long as he is making progress it sounds like they will give him as much time as he needs:


    "Sean is progressing. When you have as serious a knee injury as he unfortunately had, it sometimes is a very long process. Sometimes it takes over a year to fully rehabilitate. But the good thing is we are seeing signs of progress, albeit small steps. But it is progress. Sean's attitude is off the charts. He wants to rehab. He wants to be a great player. He is working hard to get there. He is making small progress, and as long as he is making progress, we will be patient with him and hopefully get him back at full speed at some point."

    Sounds a lot better than the doubtful prognosis Keith Butler gave him a few weeks back.

    I think Butler was trying to motivate him because really it's a very stupid thing to say otherwise, even if it were true, don't crush the guys hopes, let him attack the rehab with everything he has, Spence will know eventually weather he can or not.

    Yeah, that strikes me more as lowering expectations for fans than it does motivating Spence. Telling someone they can't do it I think is the opposite of motivation. Stupid thing to say, even if he believes it.

    And reading between the lines, it appeared that Tomlin was a little peeved by Butler's remarks.

    Some people become more determined when told they can't do something. If he said it to lower fans expectations, thats even dumber.

    Yeah Jack, I think Tomlin was pissed by it too.
