I've looked at the mendenhall TD over and over and I have to tell you: I don't think that was a lateral. Makes no difference. 6 is 6. But I sure am glad I don't play FF anymore.

I have Mendenhall, makes no difference to me. A TD is a TD. Ben generally isn't worth starting in fantasy anyway. He's a bye week guy at best.

Yeah, semantics, but I thought it should've been ruled a pass rather than run. McCoy had a very similar play later in the game that they credited as a reception.

If it truly was a pass they'll change it by Thursday. The fact that they ruled it a lateral means it probably was.

My thoughts exactly. He has scored 30 to 40 points each game, except for this last one.

We're talking fantasy. Lets not confuse the two. Ben has played great, but he's never been a consistent fantasy guy. He's had 2 down weeks out of 4 this year (fantasy wise, not real life).

Ben has been decent for fantasy this year. I have him, and until last night, he has been good, with one exceptionally good game.

I have Ben, Matt Ryan, and Peyton. With nfl.com scoring, Matt Ryan has 151.48 so far this year, Peyton has 132.23, and Ben has 95.04, but Ben is also the only one of the 3 that has had a bye so far. That's an average of just under 24 points per game, which isn't as high as some other QBs, but he has been a good starter for me this year. He's not the only reason, but I'm in 1st place in my league, and he sure hasn't hindered me in the slightest (except for yesterday's game, but they all have a bad week from time to time).

And I'm one of the ones who thinks this should have been ruled a pass, if only to get 6 or 7 more points for fantasy.

it was very close. it could have went either way. i think the only way it gets changed is if the Steelers ask for it to be looked at and i doubt they will.

    I had Mendenhall AND Ben.
    IT WAS A PASS!

OK, it was a lateral, it was backwards.
McCoy's was a pass, it was forward.

Ben is having close to a have 5 FF season he is almost always a top 10 guy who most people like me take in like round 8 for the value you get. taking Heath with the last pick was my best value pick so far this season.

it didnt matter to me cause they dude i played had Luck yesterday but will i never sit Wayne again this season lol.

Edited~ I tried to link to it on the NFL game center page, but it didn't work for some reason. The page is making my browser hang. There's a clip on the right hand side under highlights. http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/201210070 ... s@steelers

Not sure why it matters to anyone not involved in fantasy, but it looks to me like Ben threw it from the 21 yard line and Mendy caught it at the 21 yard line. What's the official rule? Would that be a lateral or a pass?

Not sure on the rule, looked to me like the Ball was at the 20 and 1/2 yard line when Mendy caught it. Close either way. They announced at the end of the game that it was Mendy's 30th rushing touchdown.

I really don't care whether it was a lateral, or not. Mendenhall in the flat. It's money. Here's hoping the Steelers continue to cash in.

Especially with his performance against Oakland. Ben will throw an avg of 30 passes a game this year! I'd take him on my fantasy team. He's second to Matt Ryan for total qbr!

QB rating isn't a fantasy stat though.

I had no one. Don't do fantasy, well maybe with girls but not football
I don't care what it was. It was 6 and that works for me

I have Ben on both of my fantasy teams. He starts for one team and RG3 starts for another. Ben has been pretty good for FF so far, although that lateral hurt a bit. But who cares as long as Pgh wins!

It was a forward pass, no question. I was really surprised when they scored it a run, and thought for sure it would be corrected. Usually this stuff is corrected the day of, or the day after. I really don't know why it hasn't been yet. Ben releases the ball at the 21 yard and 1 foot line, Mendenhall catches it just a hair inside the 21. It moved forward a little more than foot. Forward pass, receiving touchdown. Weird they got it wrong. Oh well.

By the way, someone above asked what the rule was if it went sideways. If it goes perfectly sideways, it's a lateral. If it goes forward at all, even a millimeter, it's a forward pass. Of course, that's not so easy to tell from most angles the refs have when watching live. And on replays, they probably are looking for more than a millimeter if they need to overturn it.
