I was trying to look up the last dominant performance and I had to go back to 2020 to find one. We beat the Browns 38-7 and the Bengals 36-10. That was the year we started 11-0 but fizzled at the end losing 5 of the last 6 games include playoff humiliation defeat to the Browns 48-34. Since then, we've been playing at the competition level or below. That is a long time to not have a dominant performance. I think 2020 was the last year we had a good offensive line with DeCastro, Pouncey, Villanueava, and Feiler. Dominant performance starts in the trenches.

Kind of odd now that I think about it. I notice Eagles have a lot of dominating games, then again the NFC has like 2 SB contenders. I remember the Brady years in that division. A lot of those games were over after 1st qtr. Would I enjoy a comfortable game, hell yeah, but as long as they are wins I don't care if we win by 1 point all the time.

We beat the Browns 28-14 last year. It wasn’t a dominant performance, but we solidly outplayed them from the 2nd quarter on.

The steelers won by 2 scores or more only 3 times since 2021(week 17 Browns in 2021 and last year vs saints and week 18 vs Browns). The rest of the time, their win was always by one score!

This really opens up a dialogue that could go many different directions, just a quick google took me in two different directions, one said 25 % of games ended up one score or less, another was 50 to 60%, I think the latter seems high, but without looking at a long list of individual stats (I am to lazy) the first seems a bit low. A few seasons back we won the division and won a high % of one score games, the next year we did not make the play offs and lost most of those one score games. My point is if you live a system that gives you that many games, you are playing against the odds for long term success. Understanding in the NFL you are not going to have blow outs every week, but if your O cannot sustain drives and score points, your D is not going to hold every team to low level out put every week, especially when that low level is 17 pts or so.

Opinion: the “one-score game” narrative misses key context - Buffalo Rumblings

Found this article on the 22 bills and found it interesting, one line states, "When prognosticators look for regression candidates among good NFL teams from one year to the next, one key point emphasis is that a high winning % in one score games is not sustainable metric".

So yes we take the ugly close wins, but to build a credible an O that CAN give you those occasional blow out wins.
