After observing how the Steelers operate over the past 36 years, they will probably sign Jones to a 2-3 year deal. I'd be shocked if another team signed him to start.

 

I think your numbers are wrong, @Steel_Elvis has some nice stats there. No way do I want to pay LJ 5-6 mil, he has not proven he can be a capable back up, imo. As far as hating LJ it is all about performance, you play good we like ya you stink up the joint we don't. There has been many who haven't liked the pick from day one, i am one of them and with that said has he done enough here in the last 4 years to earn 5-6 mil a year, imo no.

 

Which season was Mettenberger decent?

 

2014 he beat the steelers. Also completed just a tad under 60% of his passes with 8 TD and 7 picks. For a backup that is decent especially considering he was on a bad team.

I don't really care for Jones, and want to see if Mettenberger has anything playing with a team with actual talent around him.
That being said, I wouldn't necessarily be against re-signing Jones, provided he's under 2.5 mil per year.

LJ had a decent outing against the pats. one td pass was called back too because of the stupid penalties we have incurred this year. pwp was talking about multiple picks but ben has them too. many a lot uglier than landry threw this year. i think if we keep him around even as a backup when bens replacement is found he will be a decent backup for us that knows the team and system just by shear time in it.

 

How many wins does he have as a starter?

 

Not sure but wins isnt always the best way to judge a QB. Sort of like judging a baseball pitcher off wins.

 

Landry jones is not our qb of the future... he's 3rd string at best...... that said, I also believe zm is no better than 2nd string...... let Landry go.... maybe Cleveland will snatch him up

As for LJ, I think he is re-signed in the offseason. Didn't like the pick and not fond of him now, but that's what I see playing out. Really just because they have invested in him these past couple years. I don't think they would counter though, if another team offered him a contract because they have ZM and could get a vet off Free agency. I just hope its a 2 year deal where they can re-evaluate after that.

 

I don't think they'll gage his future with the team off one game. But if he stinks up the joint, it could be a nice bargaining chip for a lower money contract. I still think they'd try to re-sign if he does poorly.

 

Sarcasm turtle. I am one not to see him resigned though. And who knows, if Haley gets a head coaching gig, and their will be plenty of choices, a new offensive coordinator might want to bring in one of his guys to back up.

 

LJ's mechanics, skill sets, and attributes as an NFL QB is what it is. IMO His play will be no diff. in the Brown's game nor games in the coming future! It's time the Steelers abolish the project.

From the reports I have heard ZM hasn't been too good in practice, they say he has a good arm but isn't accurate.
