Listen as much fun as we have been having talking about this topic and it is fun to speculate about it, we all know what has to happen regardless of what our own beliefs on the subject might be. Jones is the backup, MR will be the 3rd QB who won't dress and given the injury bug they won't be able to keep Dobbs as a fourth so he will unfortunately get cut and they will try to sign him to the PS.

If they could get by without a spare OL, ST specialist, 5/6th receiver, DL or a few DBs then yes they could carry 4 QB's. I'm really not even sure how they intend to carry Eli Rogers, since by all reports he isn't close to being up to speed so do you waste an IR spot on him?

Again.. people are taking what Ben said too far. He was responding to Mason's comment stating basically he wasn't going to depend on Ben to learn but be a grown up to take initiative to learn. Ben made a statement jokingly in sarcastic jest stating he'd point to the playbook.

The reality is, Ben would assist Mason Rudolph. The media ran with this one in a deep desire to find a story in an otherwise boring offseason, and many fans took the bait without thinking twice about it.

There is a lot of truth said in jest....Ben wouldn't be the first big time QB to not go out of his way to help someone perceived as a threat. Not saying Rudolph is a immediate threat but big time players are sensitive sometimes....

I think Ben got pulled into the drama of it all created by the media et al without probably even seeing the interview. The way his interview went makes me think that.

If the media never took what Mason stated out of context, this whole thing would be a none issue and no one including Ben would have thought anything besides it.

Ben's job is pretty well solidified in Pittsburgh until he decides to hang it up, which was the ultimate issue due to his random statement hinting at retirement.

I don't have the link but I read in the past few days where Ben said that he will help Mason as much as possible. Im paraphrasing but I think Ben was just caught off guard about drafting Mason but has come around since those first statements. Ben always helps the rookies.

I agree with you about the Ben/Mason thing being created by the media, but Ben's statement regarding retirement was more than random. He stated he had discussed it with his wife, his agent and coach. He went into detail about his health, his family, ect. That's not random.

Ben has always been a bit passive aggressive and after having some time to think about his comments he usually backtracks a bit...I'm not trying to say it's a big deal but I feel the role for LJ to be a mentor might play a part in their decision...

Concussion this week, and don't forget about the motorcycle accident, I would sit him for preseason, maybe have him start in the last preseason game for just a few possessions

I haven't seen Eli's prognosis for return? Maybe PUP list or the early out IR?? Or is he due back pretty quick?

Considering Ben cleared the concussion protocol I’d say you’re prediction is probably wrong.
