I'll always have a soft spot for Woodley. He was a force out there when he was healthy, but his hamstrings just wouldn't allow it, then he goes to Oakland and tears his biceps.

I'm going to ask the "800 pound gorilla" question. Do you think steroids, PEDs, could be the culprit? I've heard that they can weaken muscle tissue and cause these kinds of injuries. Of course, the same thing happened to Aaron Smith and now Bret Keisel. I've just always wondered if that could be the reason or at least a contributor.

I loved him too. Much more than Timmons actually. But the writing is just on the wall with him. He can't stay healthy and I hate it because when he was good he was truly a beast. I just don't think his heart is truly in it.

Articles with 'anonymous sources' are usually taken with a grain of salt but some interesting stuff here.

No, NO,NO, I would rather play with players that have heart, come to camp in shape and want to win.

I think it's possible, but I've never heard anything credible suggesting he took performance enhancing drugs. Hell, if he did, you'd think he'd stop after his 19th injury.

Some guys, like Aaron Smith, are just unlucky that way. Some people call them soft, fragile, glass, whatever. I just think it's bad luck. Some people's bodies injure easily. Woodley is definitely one of them. Too bad that wasn't apparent until after we threw gobs of money at him.

Woodley was great, and he was still improving when he signed his big extension. He was at his best for the first 1/2 season after the contract was signed, with (I believe) 9 sacks in 8 games (some without Harrison and others with Harrison limited). However, it was mid-year that season that the hammy gave out, and the rest is unfortunate history.

I cannot fault our front office for his big extension. Every indicator at the time was that he was a beast who was becoming more beastly.
