Carnell Lake is old enough to have a college aged kid? Damn, I feel old!

Well in terms of management at least, Rooney's give brownie points to Pittsburgh or PA ties or family lineage. Todd Haley, Kevin Colbert, Tom Bradley, Carnell Lake, Joey Porter, Mike Munchak...

    I do.

Quentin Lake is actually a good schematic fit for the team as he has wore many hats during his tenure at UCLA. Single High Safety, Box Safety, Nickel Corner, Slot Corner, Half Deep Safety, not too much he cannot do. His major concern though has been his limited athletic ability; interesting because Carnell Lake was one of the most athletic safeties ever to test overall (more info of this statement can be found here and here). Should he test well... he will go higher.

The biggest question though is will the Steelers actually travel out to the Pacific West this time around?! Since 2000, the Steelers have taken fewer than 10 players from the PAC 12; Brian Allen from Utah being the last one. I do hope they at least give him a look but I severely doubt it.

Give it take what it’s worth, I believe Mark Bruenner is a scout for the Steelers out there. He was my neighbor, he was from Astoria Oregon, so I suspect he lives there.

He is!! Currently scouting him along with other players at the Shine Bowl Practices! What is also good news is the fact that, among the Steelers Scouts, Mark Bruenner has a bigger voice than others give him credit for. Not as big as Brandon Hunt, Rick Reiprish or even Phil Kreidler.. but he is not too far behind overall.

I was reading on Steelers Depot that Quentin Lake has been the best coverage safety at the Shrine practices.
