Seriously, when will he return? I thought Sunday would be the day as he's been practicing well. Now, I read he wasn't sure as he had a poor performance Thursday, and he even said he needs to get his head right, forget his injury, and just play. I'm starting to wonder what is going on here as its been all good news for weeks, and now another question arises?

Man this is really getting annoying. Obviously I want him to pan out but it just seems like it's one rigamaroo after another with this guy and you know it's bad when rigmarooing is involved because you so rarely have a chance to use that word in a sentence and yet with Ledarius Green you can actually use it twice.

Right now he is one of 6,000,000,000 people world wide who has never played for the Steelers. I'm not putting any more thought into him until he moves out of this category.

I really don't think he gives this team anything more in the big scheme of things.

The assumption is that he's more dynamic in the passing game. O.K. if he goes out in the passing game and if Ben decides to throw it his way. We've seen wide open TE's all season.

I don't think he's head and shoulders above the TE's they have in blocking. 1. He's never played in this system 2. he's never played with these guys. \

So what does he give? Just a name recognition and possibly game planning against him, although I'm not sure what they'd have to gameplan against.

Do you realize that he is the fastest tight end in football and it is not even close? Do you realize that he was a beast last year while gates was out to the point that the chargers were trying to trade gates but could not make the deal they wanted? Go watch youtube videos of him catching 50 yd bombs------- jessie james can not do that. This guy could be so deadly for us. It could be scary

He doesn't need to be a great blocker to change defensive planning, just decent. Right now our TEs provide no downfield threat, so defenses can comfortably deal with them with LBs or underneath zone defenders. If James catches a few 8 yarders under the zone, no big deal. Green is a legit 4.5 guy that the defense needs to account for, and he can be split wide and provide a legit downfield threat. So when the defense sees him on the field with another TE, 2 WRs and Bell, they have to make sure that their defensive personnel can handle a 2 TE run look or a 3 wide passing formation. Right now if they see us with 2 TEs, they can comfortably play base personnel. That's where I see his biggest impact- on 1st down or 2nd and 6 yards or less when we're legitimately in 50/50 run/pass territory. That's tough for the defense.

Again, he's not on the field and he's not played a single down with any of the offense. There's no way he's game ready halfway into the season.

How long does it take Ben to get comfortable with a receiver?

Should not take the tightend that long to adjust as there are alot less routes for them to run in playbook than receiver. It would be nice if they were on same page come December..........

I never said he needed to be a great blocker to change the game planning. In this scheme the TE's need to block sometimes. The Offense really revolves around Bell.

Yes, they would have to account for him, if healthy and he does what he did for the Chargers a full year ago. That's a huge if.

I'm hearing a lot of what he can do to change things, but he's not changing crap sitting on the bench and he'd have to show it on the field to have defenses account for it.

Point is with execution the offense can purr without him. There's been plenty of missed opportunities with open guys that Ben or Landry isn't hitting

He can block well enough. Not sure what your beef with him is. Why would any Steelers fan be opposed to another weapon on the field?

    He's a match up problem.

He's been injured, not sure why people are angry at him for that unless they think he misled the Steelers about his headaches. I have not heard a clear cut explanation of anything though, so I'm not going knock him for it.

When he gets healthy he's easily the best TE on the team. He has the potential to be a big time playmaker. I like James and Grimbile, but they aren't on the same level as Green.
I know it's not easy coming in Midseason and being a factor right away, but I think he can be a factor when it counts, in the playoffs.
