You actually believe that? It's just a way for the NFL to cover their ass.

So just like Green had issues before joining the Steelers. Steelers evaluated it and gave him the proper time to heal instead of being like oh he's making 20 million. He needs to play now. Look at the list of Gronks injuries thru the years. Has he ever been allowed to sit out 8 games and get healthy? Every other week he's injured. And it's not like they are ever a threat to not make the playoffs. They play in the worst division in all of sports. They need that homefield advantage throughout the playoffs. Makes you wonder why they need that so bad.. Oh yeah, our headsets suddenly stop working when we play there. Peyton and Dungy wouldn't even talk strategy in their away locker-room because an EX Patriot told them they bug the locker rooms. Look at their home record, I honestly thing they bug the play calling rooms. Reminds me when we were driving it down their throat on 1st possession 2 years ago and then run a random reverse and they called the perfect play to stop it. Just like they called the perfect play to stop a pass at the 1 yard line in the Super Bowl.

But back to Gronk.. Lets be honest.. He's not a Belicheat player with all the partying and everything he does. He's only on that team still because he's the best TE in the league. They don't care about his well being so they rode him into the ground. They will trade him or cut him, it's no big deal to them. They already got his replacement in Bennett.

Yes, I'm under the belief that player X cannot play until they clear the concussion protocol. Be it Gronk or whoever. If there are ways around that, I'm not privy to it.

My other point was that Gronk is prone to back problems which led him to back surgery his junior year in college. The Cheatriots even took Aaron Hernandez in the fourth round as a CYA in case Gronk's back failed him again. This has plagued him his entire career. Albeit the elbow injury was a killer too. He plays very physical and I will give you that they may have rushed him back too soon on occasion, but I don't really know because I don't follow them too closely. Also, how much is that the player and not the team? We've seen Ben come back to soon (San Fran game was it??) on occasion as well. Bottom line, I don't think Gronk's career is being cut short because he's on the Cheatriots, I just think he is prone to injuries due to physical style of play, chronic back ailments, etc. FWIW I don't think Ben's career has been shortened by the Steeler's decisions either.

Hard to say but if your on the squad and your paid and docs say you can play then you play. I think it's supposition to assume Gronk is done. It's a flesh wound. lol. He will be back in the lineup. With the unbiased doctors on the sidelines now you can't play if deemed concussed. Takes the decision away from the players and the coaches and even team physicians. Not sure it would make a difference with Welker or not since I believe the rules/policies have changed in the last couple of years. Welker was blowing snout bubbles because he would catch a ball in traffic like a real slot receiver and not think about the consequences.

Green back in the lineup is a good thing and he is performing well thus far but when a guy sits out as long as he has you have to wonder when the proverbial shoe is going to drop and he is back on the injured list..

Could be wrong. Hope so for the Steelers sake.

Having just watched the recording of this game, I think the impressive thing is that he gets wide open.

    No crap!

Looked like he had to fight through contact on every snap just to get open. On one he looked like a gunner getting mugged halfway up the field. How that's not illegal contact is a mystery.

Considering Gronks injuries he has been pretty durable for 7 years, his game average played is 12.5 games per season, he has two 16 game seasons and two 15 game seasons, 2013 was his low with 7 games because he came back too soon from a broken arm and reinjured it, but all things considered including his physical style of play, he is a phenominal tight end who will rewrite the record books if he can overcome his back injury and play for a few more years...

That's the thing. They are saying he might not even come back or be productive for a few more years.
