Another over the hill, flash in the pan, who's making way too much for their production.

Yeah for sure. Has a bit of AB to him, but whatever. Its WR's... there are very few top WR's without some sort of diva/personality concerns anymore. Just the way the younger generation is.

I was speaking mostly from a player fit perspective though. I think he's a better player than Kupp, has been healthy, and has more left in the tank. There will be other options that come available too (Deebo Samuel already is reported to be on the trade block, and I am sure there will be other potential targets). I would be very wary to give up any type of real capital for Kupp. Maybe a day 3 pick?

Yeah, well, its not like there are any Jamarr Chase's available in FA that are looking to get massively underpaid. Nor are there any team's willing to trade Justin Jefferson's for a day 3 pick and retain salary.... We're going to have to try to improve the WR room somehow.

I am not saying that Samuel is the right move or not, but there are going to be some vets on higher deals that will be short term upgrades to a WR room that desperately needs it. We need to make the right decision of course, but someone like Samuel, Kupp, Hill, Adams, etc. could come in here and make a huge difference for 2-3 years. Then we can draft/sign to bolster the rest of the room and make it a strength again in the future.

They're trying to get rid of Kupp because of salary cap issues I think? Khan has been proving to be quite the dealmaker so far. If we did get Kupp, perhaps we could get him purely for money without any picks given away? There's a lot of bullets to back up that line of thinking. Past injuries, money, and no real superstar seasons since 2021.

But even if they got him without giving up any picks, I still think the money would be too high for what would effectively be a 32 year old number 3 receiver with a history of injuries.

And what is it with so many of the really good wide receivers having mental and attitude issues? They jump too high in the air and land on their heads too many times or something? Lol

lmao, maybe? I think it has to do with a combination of things. It's the highest money offensive skill position (QB not included) so you're going to get the biggest freak athletes all competing for that spot, its the skill position that sees the most 1v1 matchups and the least amount of physical contact. And quite frankly the star WR has been the best athlete on his teams since he was 10 years old. Their whole career has been out athlete-ing the competition, talking sh*t, and having zero repercussions off the field for anything they do wrong. It just breeds this type of individual through the ranks.

But I agree with your analysis on Kupp. Price is probably going to end up being too high to buy what he has left in the tank. There will be better options that come available I think. He should be a last resort type of option imo.

The Rams are actually fine right now, $38M under the cap. They're just looking to re-invest the dollars owed Kupp with Nacua proving to be a younger talent capable of the same production. And if they can get a draft pick out of it, more chance to add some youth.

As far as trade compensation goes, from an article on OTC:

If the decision is Kupp at $12.5M for 2025 (this scenario assumes the Rams pay for the $7.5 roster bonus) versus the Steelers keeping their second-round pick, I keep the pick. That kind of trade is a move for someone with less holes to plug.

Under no circumstances should a day 2 pick be traded for Kupp. There just isn't enough left in the tank to justify that. I'd trade a second round pick for DK Metcalf... but that's under the assumption that we'd get the last 5 years of his prime. Can't be trading quality capital for a guy this far past his prime.

Hill said he has changed his mind and wants to stay in Miami FWIW.

California is the only state where having a Taco Bell in your house is allowable under building code, so of course he wants to go back there.

Its probably worth nothing. He spoke out of frustration to begin with, but I am sure that he is hedging his bets so that it doesn't become a huge issue if Miami elects not to trade him (they certainly don't have to).

This is a must. I still wouldn't hate for us to make an offseason acquisition and use high end capital on a WR still. We probably need 2 guys (either 2 FA/trades or a FA/trade and a 1st or 2nd round pick) to really fix the room. It also hedges against GP in case he walks or we decide that he should get traded. We CANNOT trade GP without TWO #2 WR or better FA/Trade acquisitions. If it is one FA/trade and a pick, we can't move him. Simple as that.

If we really want to go after a DL or a CB within the first 2 rounds of the draft, we MUST take WR off the draft board before the draft starts. Our biggest weakness last season was our weapons and we really have to address it asap. Its been a while since we've been bad at WR and RB at the same time. We have to fix that if we want to have any hope to score points next year.

if they could get kupp for a 4th and the rams eat the 7.5 mil. i would consider this a good deal. i still would get egbuka. pickens, kupp, egbuka would be a huge tick up in our receiving corps. there are others out there though if the cards don't fall right.
