Cole's troubles worry me more than the tackles. They don't have a first-round pick waiting to take Cole's job as Jones will take a job from either Moore or Okorafor. Also, his struggles are disrupting the running game and allowing interior pressure in Pickett's face.

 

Yeah Cole has really looked bad this year. The center position is one that the Steelers brass needs to be looking at in next year's draft.

 

The guy is scoring 1.3 TDs a game, surely nothing to write home about. He has a 71 QBR. A 71. Let's not celebrate with a piñata just yet.

 

Passing on Humphreys for Muth has caused us grief, and Muth ain't setting the world ablaze.

 

The play-calling and Pickett's slow start are more to blame for than than Freiermuth. They have been holding him in as a blocker more and he hasn't been targeted nearly enough so far. He had a solid game against the Raiders and nearly made a spectacular grab despite being interfered with late in the game.

Your overall point isn't wrong. They should have taken Humphrey. That isn't hindsight for me or many others on this board. We wrote it on the draft day threads back then. Freiermuth isn't a terrible pick. He is a good player and he was worth taking in the second round, but Humphrey is an All-Pro. Humphrey also addressed a huge need at center, an area that is still a problem. I wonder if part of why they passed on him was that they liked Green and knew they could get him later. Oops.

 

As far as leaving Muth in to block, have you seen some of hs "attempted" blocks? Calling them "comical" is not even an exaggeration. He's horrible at blocking, like he isn't even interested in trying.

 

Now you think you can read his mind and tell us about his interests? He is not a good blocker. That much is true. I do think he is frustrated by being asked to block on passing plays, when he thinks he should be out in a route, but that isn't the same as the fiction that you wrote.

Kenny’s stats are poor but he is still young and doesn’t exactly have the benefit of a good line or OC. Have to hope he can keep winning and improving in spite of those things.
