Koufax and Skenes comparison

    Just for fun I thought I would compare Skenes’ first three seasons to Koufax’s last, 1966. Here we go:

    Skenes career:
    27W 15L 370.2 IP 0.906 WHIP 10.7 K/9inn
    Koufax 1966:
    27W 12L 323.0 IP. 0.985 WHIP 8.8 K/9inn

    Very comparable. The number of innings pitched in Koufax’s day is ridiculous by today’s standards. A huge difference is the number of complete games. They are pretty much extinct now.
    Koufax was only a little past Mitch Keller’s age and had to pack it in.

    One of the few players who owned Koufax was #21. So there's that. Sandy was awesome to watch during his peak, when they weren't playing the Bucs.
