How is Cousins not the future, if we did sign him? He's a good QB. You'd rather try to get a QB via the draft? How has that worked for Cleveland?

Hey, Cleveland is good a picking QBs. They had something like 30 of them.

My bad. I thought I’d read that a player couldn’t be tagged more than three times.

All sorts of crazy scenarios are possible if Ben puts himself out to pasture.

Anyway, as much as I hate to say it, our chances of signing Juice to a long-term deal are slim. He flat out balled today, and finally seems in football shape. Really wish he would have had at least a shorter holdout. He's gonna want cash money, but I don't feel the FO will drop the 15 mill Bell wants. Plus, RBs seem easy to find these days. Look at Jordan Howard and Kareem Hunt. We'll let Bell go elsewhere and use his money for a QB, even though I'd be devastated to lose 26.

That QB could be Alex Smith. Yes, he is having a fantastic year and yes KC could keep him through 2018, but I think they really love Mahomes. If they bail on Smith, I wouldn't mind him for a few years until we can possibly strike gold in the draft. Neither Landy nor Dobbs are our future franchise QB.

2018 would be the third time. He's only been tagged twice, and I don't recall that ever happening before.

Cousins would be a good fit I think, but his price tag is going to be way too high. The future QB of this franchise is not on the current roster. I just do not understand why we drafted Dobbs, he really wasn't good in college, his arm is suspect and Landry....Well we already know about him.

Assuming Cousins isn't an option, I really like the idea of getting Smith. He's smart with the ball and would really shine with the talent we have. He isn't that old and has a good 4 or 5 years left. During that time, finally spend an early pick on someone to be the long term QB.

There is just too much talent on this team, on both sides of the ball, to hand the keys over to garbage like Dobbs and Jones.

I think Ben goes 1 maybe 2 more years. I'll support him long as he still got it. I think he has it now

I get all of the Skins games here in VA so I see Cousins a lot. He's tough but his WR's stink. It's amazing how badly the Skins botched his contract situation.

A cheaper alternative to a guy like Cousins go after Jacoby Brissett of the Colts.

Yeah well Pittsburgh has better talent, the Colts suck and this is his first time being a starter.

no. he started two and played 3 last year. he had a good first half monday and then fell apart in the 2nd half against a team that was also 2-3 at the time. he's played in 9 games in two years. yes we have better talent then the colts.

To all the naysayers about Brees, did you forget what Manning did in Denver?

Beyond that, all of the Steelers Super Bowl wins came from a QB they drafted. If Ben wins this year and returns, no reason to think they can’t repeat. If he retires, I agree with the premise to get a highered arm. This team can win.

The more I think Kirk Cousins is headed to the 49ers. For big money. Much more than the Steelers would ever pay.

I think Cousins is actually from California too?

whats wrong with signing Nick Foles, the one year he started for the eagles he had 27TDs and only two picks, he's back in philly backing up wentz on a 2 year 11M contract, foles has the size 6-6 243 and a gun arm, he can be a starter in this league, all he needs is the chance to start on a good team..........

I know he played some last season with New England, I'm talking about starting on a consistent basis. I'm sure he didn't have a full training camp with the Colts either, plus their O-line isn't good.

Not interested, that one good year in Philly must have been a fluke he hasn't done anything since. I think he went to the Rams and Chiefs and they both gave up on him.

He's too expensive and the Colts would want a lot of draft picks for him, plus the injuries the last 2 seasons too risky.

I think this draft we should make whatever deals we can to be able to draft a QB in the 1st or 2nd round.
Dobbs is a work in progress and may turn out great in the long run but LJ has been here long enough that if he were going to turn into something even good he would have done so by now.

Do I think we'll actually do this? No.

I would be shocked if the Steelers went after Cousins or Smith in the off season. History has shown regarding the QB position, the Steelers will most likely go with Jones and draft a QB in the 2nd or 3rd round with their normal pick without trading. So, if Ben retires after '17... it will be Jones, Dobbs and whoever they draft. Whoever the drafted QB is, won't start any time soon unless there are injuries.

Steelers drafted the great Jamain Stephens in the 1st round in '96, when they had Mike Tomczak and Kordell Stewart waiting in the wings.
