Yes it sure does . And it also makes dual threat QB'S more valuable . No I am not saying this to insert you know who over Ben, because Ben is doing a great job so far . I am just saying it is prudent to keep practicing with all options because you never know the situation .ie type of Team ,Weather things of that nature.

I know if I was playing the Jets with inclement Weather I would use my Dual threat QB if I had 1 .....I think the Steelers should have 2 guys that could do this if needed . Hopefully they let Murphy run some QB on the scout Team ....

I will take that bet. You will see a BU for the Steelers sometime in the next 2 seasons on a 2 point conversion. You may even see Bell or Brown in the Wildcat who knows .

Like I said if we have to have a 2 pt. conversion playing a stout pass Defense in the snow , I have no doubt you will see the dual threat QB/RB/WR . It is 100 % the correct call ...Coaches get paid to create mismatches and that's exactly what a dual threat QB/RB/WR would create in that situation...Please don't trip out when you see it happen....

This is only the first season of the new rules and when they move the ball to the 1 or 1.5 next season you will see a lot of NFL Teams do it and do it on a regular basis....

 

Maybe if they expand the rosters, but I don't see many teams dedicating a roster spot to a fringe NFL'er for the sole purpose of 2-point conversions. That's more of a NCAA luxury.

If it's late December in inclement weather conditions and we need 2 points to determine the game, I would be absolutely livid if they yanked Ben Roethlisberger for Tyler Murphy. While Murphy would add an extra wrinkle for the defense, I think that wrinkle gets negated when you factor in ball handling, cadence, familiarity, confidence, and experience running an offense/reading a defense.

 

Nothing much to read . You spread the passing D out with 4 Wide from a Single RB set if the Safety shades either side you run or throw the other way, if he plays straight then you block down and run Zone Read. If the QB reads it correct there is no way to stop it from 1 or 1.5 yards .

The wrinkle only gets negated if your not prepared to run it . You run it 5 or 10 times a week in practice each week and have complete confidence in that set before you even think of calling it in the game. Just like any other play or set in the playbook.

As far as a fringe player then that's really not correct if you look at a lot of Rosters in the NFL a lot have BU QB'S who are runners a lot have converted WR'S that played QB. And 2 points is 2 points I have seen a many of HS game decided by who can convert more. This is actually what the NFL wants to have happen and it will..

Coach T already experimenting in camp with Jumbo WR sets with wildcat sets and multiple types of trick plays . As Ben stated we practice converting 2 pointers to much not to use it. Only a matter of time before you see a real creative set . Maybe 3 RB'S and no QB ? Again who knows .The only thing I know for sure is Teams are already going for 2 more and the weather hadn't even got here yet. Wait til that happens and then add the rule change and almost every Team will be looking to go for 2.

Either you plan ahead and get ahead of it or you fall behind . Coach T is planning ahead and he will use any and every tool in the shed if needed ..That's exactly what he is supposed to do...
