Stick with Scobee and don't even make an attempt to get someone else.

He's been doing this NFL kicking thing for a while and whatever problems he may be having I think he's capable of working them out. He also puts the ball out of the endzone on kickoffs, something very important considering how often we should be scoring this year. Plus, I'm not even a little bit willing to pay the price needed to secure one of the few totally reliable kickers out there, which is what we'd have to do for an upgrade over Scobee.

It's not worth bringing someone new in off the street "to compete" at this point since they in no way shape or form would be better than Scobee. And if his deal is mental, then probably the worst thing to do is to make him feel even more insecure by bringing in some guys for a look.

Agree 100%. Also we gave up a draft pick for him so I don't see the Steelers cutting him, they're going to give it a chance for that reason.

Roy Gerela missed extra points in Super Bowl IX and Super Bowl X so maybe Scobee's miss against the 49ers is a good omen.

So when is Suisham to return ? I know originally for the season, but don't know if that's in stone. If he's out all year, we'll def. need a new kicker. We can "hope" this guy will turn his skills around, but we need reliability. We can kiss the close games good-bye with this guy.

 

I think kickers league wide are getting inside their heads too much with the new point after rule. As was said earlier lots of missed fg as well as extra points. I'd give it some time. Considering how long some people wanted to hold on to Jeff Reed because he could kick at home I think it warrants letting Scobee have at least a few games to adjust.

 

I was just going to say that. It's not just a Scobee thing, it's a league wide thing. Quote me if I'm wrong but I think there have been more extra points missed after week 2 than the entire 2014 season.

Couldn't agree more. It is so refreshing to see a Steelers kicker actually produce touch backs consistently.

 

Very true, blast. I really think once he gets used to a new snapper and holder he will be good.

 

In 2014, there were 4 missed Extra Points the entire season, So far there have been 9 total in just 2 short weeks of this NFL season.

 

Well then Colbert needs to be scrambling through the waivers to find a pro bowl, Hall of Fame, type holder. LOL.

 

Exactly and the weather will make even more misses . The 2 Pt. conversion is the goal of the NFL and it is working .

 

Any kicker that gets a 2.5 million 1 year contract should be in the top kicker stats every week, and to think the steelers tried to sign him for two years when he was un proven shows how stupid they are, at least scooby doo knew after this year he would be un welcome here and couldnt beat out suisham in camp next year....

 

Which makes goal line stands more important.
