    Really hard to say.
Pittsburgh is tight vested in a lot of things.
    I don't think that's bad.
And that would be a good move.

Yea. Colbert is staying around in some consulting role. That doesn't mean they can't hire someone from the outside as a GM (in waiting) tomorrow and he takes over in May or June. I'm sure the guy taking over will have some input on draft day.

Only if no other team was interested in him. Why would he come here over another team where he gets to draft his own team.

It would be like the ravens did. A sort of learn how We do things year. I'm sure if not directly making picks... He would have some input.

    John Wojciechowski

Definitely has to copy paste that last name.

I will say, it was all him but if you look back as to where he was, there was some solid products from the draft he nabbed.

"Served as a college scout for the Dallas Cowboys (2003-11) and Jacksonville Jaguars (1998-02) following two seasons as a player personnel assistant with the Pittsburgh Steelers (1996-97)."

That 05 cowboys draft has some names.
Same with 09 and 11 on the cowboys.

    Also with Packers 12,14,16.

Not all names are home runs but many are/have been solid contributors and starter worthy during and after their time in GB.

I officially like this GM higher and I'm wanting this guy back in the Steelers FO.

What do you guys know / feel on this potential hire?

Rooney won’t hire Colbert’s replacement until after the draft

    Cool, thanks for the insight.

Anyone else thinking beyond 2022 and how this could shape out?

I know nothing about him but the Steelers better start making better decisions than they have since Dan Rooney left or this team will be tanking for a very long time.

Trade up for Kenny Pickett 2022.

Just give it to Hunt, he is most familiar with the team and what they are looking for.

Just wondering why it's taking SO long, and SO many candidates are being interviewed?

    Not their norm.....

I'll take it at least. It seemed when selecting Tomlin they didn't bring in this many.

Per Tom Pelissero, we're bring in Tampa Bay VP John Spytek to interview.

I'm beginning to wonder if they're looking to go into another direction from Hunt/Kahn. I have to think they would have given them the position by now.

Wouldn1t the Steelers have to give up 2 3rd round picks if they hire a Black GM from outside the org. There is some kind of compensation rule.

No. The team that hires doesn’t give up anything. That would defeat the purpose. The team that loses someone gets comp picks.

I do believe that does come into play with FA players.

So, if Kahn/Hunt is hired by a team to be a GM, the Steelers get picks?

Yes, I was hoping Chicago would hire Khan, so the Steelers would get two third round comp picks.

Personally I want the new GM hired before the draft and sitting in the room with Colbert and company.

It would be asinine not to.

At this point it would seem weird if they gave it to Hunt or Khan after bringing in so many outside candidates. And I'm rooting for an outside hire now.

That’s not correct. The team that loses minority coaches and GM candidates gets compensation in draft picks. The idea is to reward teams for developing minority coaches and executives.
