Some nice insight into his life and how the team was run

 

It was a good book I read the whole thing over 6 hours.

Very good book. Sits on my Steelers shelf at work.

 

No inside information or anything, and I may be wrong; I suspect news will leak tonight and we'll have a press conference tomorrow. Practically all the 2nd interviews been done, as far as I can see.

 

I know leaks seem inevitable in this over hyped media era, but after the Russ Grimm incident I hope they hold it close to the vest.

 

I stand corrected kind sir! Who am I to refute the Gospel according to Bill lol.

 

They’re trying to hire someone that will direct the organization for the next decade. Possibly even longer. Makes far more sense to take your time and get it right then to rush and get it wrong.

I’ve been saying Brandon Hunt for almost a year now.

Steelers brass likes the guy. He’s done his dues. Give him a shot. But, he will have to prove his keep.

 

Leaks in the coming hours/presser tomorrow still makes sense to me.

If there isn't a presser tomorrow, then I'd imagine they'd be going to plan b, likely internal candidates. Atm, my hunch is thinking Weidle is their guy. Rooney's tend to go outside the organization.

 

The Steelers know Whaley very well. He was an executive working directly for Colbert for 10 years before he took the GM job in Buffalo. He is a Pittsburgh native who played his college ball at Pitt. Sure, it was a stupid comment, but I can't imagine the Steelers are foolish enough to make that decision based on his take on a player who retired when he was 10 years old. Actually, I'm fairly certain he was out of the running before he decided to troll Steelers fans for some odd reason.

 

So what GM y'all hoping for?

I think it's going to be Weidl.

At this point it's about offering a contract and the new guy signing. Friday just seems like the perfect day. Since there aren't leaks, as of yet. I'm thinking there won't be one today.

 

For the longest I have stated Hunt due to his tutelage under both Colbert and the great Bill Nunn Sr. Now though, Andy Wedli is another option I will not be surprised in. Both are my top two choices.


One thing to remember. When it comes to the history of the Steelers FO, they have been outsourced; Colbert even as he was the Pro Scouting Coordinator for the Detroit Lions.

 

I should have applied for one of those one day deals so I could retire a Steeler
