This is much better losing in the AFC title game that not be here...I mean Cowher has been in the AFC title game more often(6) that Tomlin has been in the divisionnal round(5).....

    Cowher made it to 5 of them and did not inherit the best d in football and big ben in his prime. He made it with Neil O;
'donnell and Kordell for gods sake . Plus, the management then was super cheap and let any good free agent walk. Tomlin got the keys to a BMW and just did not have to wreck it. Has not done much since Cowhers players left. Had his shot with his players when 3 b's were on the team but was totally clowned by Belichick

The defense was horrible vs Patriots/Brady/Gronk throughout the '10s. I remember Steelers getting blown off the field by the Patriots in '10 and '13. After those beatdowns, the secondary was very sub-par during the Killer B's era, (minus Haden... Steelers didn't draft him). After Shazier was done and Vince Williams retired, ILB was a constant train wreck.

The only way the Steelers could beat the Patriots was a shoot out... and the offense with the B's folded every time vs the Patriots D.

I only recall one game Steelers won vs. Brady, Gronk, Patriots..... and it was BEFORE the Killer B's era in 2011. Rashard Mendenhall, Bruce Arians playcalling and Steelers D had a great game.

The getting beat by a 1st year expansion team wasn't bad for Cowher???

The game in Denver in 2005 count too!

This is very hard to win a playoffs game in Denver...I mean,Tomlin could not beat Tebow back in 2011:facepalm:

This is such an asinine comment. Missing keisel, Woolley, Clark, pouncey, Allen, Hampton, starks… Tomlin cost us the game!

Oh wait I’ll say it for you

Making the AFC title game so often is still very hard to do.

Only Belichick and Andy Reid were better that Cowher at making the conference title game in the last 30-40 years and Cowher make the AFC title game twice with O'Donnell and Kordell Stewart too

No excuse to gave up 316 passing yards on 21 pass attempts to a QB like that because of his awful gameplan(like to put his corner on a island against Thomas:facepalm:)

If you had actually been paying attention to the play in question you wouldn’t be making this claim. Go back and watch. Ryan mundy faked a blitz and was supposed to drop back in coverage. By doing so Thomas is double covered by Taylor and muddy. However, mundy was late on his fake and subsequently late dropping into coverage. Hell they even talked about it during the broadcast. So yeah you should probably own that facepalm

    I feel like adding more.

you seem to have forgotten that Ike Taylor was a damn good cover corner. Generally “traveled” with the opposing offenses #1 receiver. He did so for the majority of his career. It wasn’t just some random decision.

we choked against a weaker opponent - injuries and all. DEN had injuries too.

    Lebeau outsmarted HIMSELF.

8-8 opponents and HOME DOGS. another TOMLIN choke as a significant playoff favorite.

history revision around here is amazing.

Tim Tebow, did I say Tim Tebow - yes.......TIM TEBOW beat us! We were the playoff laughing stock that season.

Tomlin was and is..........that is his legacy right now.

Taylor was a very good corner but in this game, he was put in a terrible position by the coaching staff and he wasn't the only one....The tackle the catch strategy would been a much better gameplan since Tebow was awful to make the routine throw

Funny how when we win it was because of Ben and in spite of the coaches, but when Ben throws 3 interceptions it’s because of the coaches, gameplan, preparation

Because Cowher never had any horrific losses? Lest we forget the 2006 Oakland Raiders, when they beat us with 100 yards of net offense…..that Raiders team went on to a 2-14 record. That is the year that we became the first Super Bowl team to miss the playoffs the next year.

Speaking of the AFCC against the Chargers. Could you imagine how Tomlin would be crucified if the team had planned a rap video in advance of the game. I think someone from Steelers defense had even told the media that the Chargers wouldn’t be able to score a TD in the Championship Game.

Cowher was a great coach, but also had his own issues.

Well this that I was taking about was the two bad teams we lost to this year. Our Qb did nothing to help win those games. Yes a Qb turning the ball over hurts ....its why I laugh at all the excitement of bringing in a Guy who in less than 3 whole seasons has 30 ints, and has fumbles it 38 times.
