Man I hope you are 100% balls on accurate on this one. This is how I would play it as well. No extension, lets see. If that costs you more later so be it(which Rooney has to be ok with) but hold this mans feet to the fire and see if he can establish a more accountable locker room and make the adjustments quicker before the building is on fire.

If there is anymore locker room drama this year I would suspect he gets his walking papers. I cant imagine Rooney or Khan tolerating that **** show again. I think it was publicly embarrassing for the franchise.

You people realize Tomlin is a big reason Russell Wilson most likely signed with this team right?

People like to complain, but he is most likely going into the HOF for coaches.

I think that the Steelers were in talks about Fields, up until they signed Wilson. If Pickett had taken it as a wake up call, and decided to work harder to earn the position, we wouldn't have Fields today. And yes, we believe that Khan traded Pickett because he stomped his feet and whined. No one needs that BS on your team.

LOL ok. Wow. Amazing turn of events to get Fields so quickly after trading Pickett.

Oh, I agree, but we didn't even meet with Russ until a week ago Friday, and his decision was made until Sunday, so I'm pretty sure we were in contact with Chicago up to then. And once Wednesday rolled around and Pickett went into full Karen mode, it probably wasn't too hard to re-start negotiations.
I will give Chicago credit- they said they'd do right by Fields, and they put him in probably the best situation for him-sitting behind Russ for a year or three and learning how to be a QB who runs, not a RB who passes. Turned down better packages, from what I've been reading.
Steelers, on the other hand, traded Pickett to sit behind someone his own age who went to the Super Bowl 2 years ago.

    Karen mode LOL So true.
I'm so happy Karen Pickett is not here anymore. Her stupid look and stupid haircut.

Steelers had the perfect opportunity this off season to send Tomlin to Washington for a 1st round pick. Then Ben Johnson could have come and ushered the new regime to the times. Unfortunate.

I don’t think there’s any way that Pickett gets traded if he or his agent didn’t request it. I know you’re one of the biggest Kenny apologists on the board but think about it. Kenny behaved himself like a little brat when Mason got hot at the end of the season forcing Tomlin to keep him in the lineup and he apparently was not happy (by several accounts) that the Steelers signed Russel Wilson, even canceling a planned session with the receivers on the roster. I suppose you just don’t believe any of that?

Washington has the number two pick in the draft, they weren't going to give that up for Tomlin .

the only reason Tomlin would be gone would be if he walks away. No way he gets fired/replaced. I'm taking all bets on that. so to speak.

I think they wanted to move on from Pickett since the end of last season when he became a punk about not starting. Now, if they thought they could this off season is another story…they had to wait and see how the offseason unfolded. I think if they didn’t have the opportunity to upgrade the way they did they may have tried to live with him and maybe Mason. Everything kind of fell right for the Steelers.

Fields had four other teams express an interest in his playing. Tomlin had a good relationship with Fields. So yes Wilson likely came because of his love for Tomlin I really think Fields came because of Tomlin as well.

That refusing to play story has been debunk. DK provided a detailed event of how that all went down. Just more fabricated **** by people who desperately need to assassinate Picketts character instead of just focusing on the fact that he just wasn’t good as a QB. At least what he showed to up to this point. I would have liked to see him play in a system without Canada and see how he did then. Would have had our answer for sure if it was just more of the same by him.

DK said he spoke with someone who was “in the room”. Okay, I’m sure he did. But was this person “in the room” for every conversation that took place? Could there have been other conversations outside the room that this insider wasn’t privy to. Instead of explicitly refusing, did Kenny pout and complain until Tomlin said, fine, Kenny, we’re not going to dress you? I think there are multiple possible scenarios and I think they are somewhat plausible based on Kenny’s words and behaviors the end of last season and after the Steelers signed Wilson. He’s come across as an entitled brat.
