How do we know that is remotely true? Weird, wild speculation here.

I thought you were making a different point. Didn’t catch that they waited until his final year last time.

And maybe they did, but Pickett obviously didn’t have faith in himself since he decided to tuck his tail and run after the Steelers brought in a little competition.

As Tomlin would say, we are in the business of winning. He has a win now team, and needs to steer them to playoff success.

This, whatever is said to media can't really be taken as anything more than that, words in the moment. They had KP, cut Mitch (obvious), and had a choice to offer MR something he could reject. It's a business, reportedly the Bears wanted a 1st for Fields, that did not happen, If KP had embraced the challenge, he may have still been here, I say may. He didn't, his hurt feelings and lack of talent made the decision to cut the string easy, even after the post season words were spoken. We don't know the conversations inside the org., but keeping a wounded ego around when you are trying to move forward is like offering a guy with lung cancer a pack of smokes, the disease is still deadly and the stink is still in the air.

I think they usually do it in the Summer, I don't think it's Khan's call to make, the extension will be done by Art ll.

I have taken notice about no contract extension offered yet. If i was Steelers i would wait to see 2024 results. No playoff win, no extension, time to move on.

While Khan has been great, I am not anointing him sainthood until he orchestrates a Super Bowl win. He still has work to do, but he has been very interesting to watch reshaping the roster. I want to see who will play center and the final WR room. Last year was a rebuild and evaluation year. This year, I believe it is a playoff win or bust.

I thought I read somewhere that Omar Khan has been with the organization since 2001. If that’s the case then why all of a sudden all these crazy deals? Did he have no say before?

Basically speaking, he is on a prove it deal. Couldn't agree more though with AR II's stance. Either put up or shut up.

    No exceptions!! :drinks:

While Kahn has been with the Org. since 2001, remember that Kevin Colbert was the one who was the captain of that ship. Kahn had to work his way up the ladder to get to VP; his first actual Executive Position was the Steelers Football Administration Coordinator, a position he held from 2001 to 2011. Kahn became VP of Football & Business Administration in 2016; allowing him to have a much bigger hand in the proverbial pile than he started out. Recall the Minkah Fitzpatrick trade?! Kahn played a part in that as well contrary to popular belief. However much of other aspects of the construction of the Roster Building he did play is unknown. That said, having such a title means that his hand was also in on the development and acquisition of talent from 2016 to 2022. However, none of this is the biggest factor.

Art Rooney II has already put out the message to Tomlin and everyone else; put up or shut up time. Kahn's moves are a reflection of that message; the major overhaul of the 2018-2022 Draft Classes being top priority. The 2024 Draft will likely have a lot more proverbial fireworks for the Steelers than in seasons past if this current Free Agency Period is anything to go by. Don't forget Andy Weidl either; a Howie Rosenman and Ozzie Newsome understudy. I would imagine that he and Kahn are gonna be working that phone into overdrive come Draft Day. I also wouldn't count out talent acquisition being over after the Draft either for there is still moves to be made Post Draft; namely players who have a Pre or Post June 1st Designation Cut around the league. Who knows what the Steelers will do after the Draft. Don't forget the final day of cuts for players at the conclusion of the Preseason either.

Regarding the OP, as I have said, Kahn isn't Colbert and AR II has had enough. To quote Mike Tomlin about the selection of Najee Harris in 2021, "AR's the boss." Whatever AR II says will happen; be it the correct decision or not.

Put up or get put out Tomlin. Enough is enough.

You guys still believe this stuff :lolol:

So let me get this straight, Khan traded Pickett because he stomped his feet and balled up his widdle hands and then said oh ****, I need a QB now, let me go get Fields!

Orrrrr, he knew he was trading for Fields and moved Pickett. Hmmm :hmm:
