"The Steelers coaches are plenty angry with Dotson over his not having done anything [over the offseason]… And the reason the Steelers brought Trai Turner in for that first visit a week before David DeCastro was released had nothing to do with DeCastro; it had everything to do with Dotson… It was just assumed – I really feel this – by almost everybody, that Dotson had this thing locked up. Well, guess what? Dotson apparently thought the same and responded accordingly."

tldr dotson thought he had the job so he was a couch potato so far all offseason (allegedly). ooooooof. Ben is gonna be getting destroyed this year

I call bs on Turner being brought in not having anything to do with David DeCastro's release.

and on not doing anything this offseason:

Clickbait. But either way, it was Tomlin's fault.

I have no idea if this report is false or not. I actually pointed out in the Trai Turner thread that his visit may have been a sign that Dotson hadn't progressed as the Steelers had hoped. It was just a thought.

Truth be told, now that Decastro has been released I would say it is a pretty safe bet that Turner's original visit was due to lack of faith in Decastro's ability to play this season.

One thing I know for sure is that some of you guys are waaaaay overrating Kevin Dotson. For a 6th round pick I thought he did a pretty nice job for a rookie. But to quote Deion Sanders, Kevin Dotson was just "Aight". The fact that he was able to come in and contribute immediately says just as much about the lack of talent amongst the offensive line, as it does Kevin Dotson's ability to be a perennial starter in the NFL at Guard.

I like Kevin Dotson. I pulling for him to be as good as some of you believe him to be. But can we please let this kid get a full season as a stater under his belt before we fit him for a gold jacket?

Dotson was a 3rd or 4th rounder definitely not a 6th. He was pretty good in college too.

You are correct. 4th round. No idea why I was thinking we took him in the 6th.

I liked the pick when we drafted him. I am not knocking him. Just saying I need to see more before I label him as a long term starter.

This guy was a 6th rounder that probably upset his training coaches.

I think he has a SB ring.

I listened to the DK podcast and he claims his source is beyond question.

I’ve no doubt KD was working out in the offseason and is in good shape but it’s probably a case of not hitting KPI’s they had set for him, weight, body fat % etc. Even if you are working out right you won’t get optimal results without doing the diet part right as well.

This could also be a case of the Steelers using the media to send KD a message about work ethic and following the programme they set for him. I’m sure he will be fine.

he then talks only about finney as the option. rashad coward was also brought in he forgot to mention. coward is capable of playing guard along with turner. not that dotson wouldn't play but there are other options.

He might have two rings if he didn't get walked back into Ben's lap, causing a pick-six vs. Green Bay.

If this is true, my 8-9 win prediction is wildly optimistic. G was one position I felt good about a couple weeks ago, along with DL and WR.

If the OL isn't on point from day 1, this season will go off the rails before it ever gets started. 2013 type start, with a brutal 2nd half of the schedule looming.

Agree. But I hope the Steelers are not relying on the media to do their leadership role for them to get players to do what they're supposed to. Its the off season do I don't believe any of this crap unless they provide their source. Otherwise, its unreliable and not worth worrying over, to me.

L.C. Greenwood wore #68 and was a 10th round draft pick. He did OK I guess.;)

We’ll see but I haven’t seen anyone fit him for a gold jacket, just that he played well for a first year player when his number was called. Given what we saw, it makes more sense to project optimism than gloom.

Ah, how I miss him charging into the pile, 8 minutes after the play was blown dead.
