That's what I was gonna say is that they both got extended. I know that some of our recent defensive guys haven't panned out yet BUT most teams would kill to have a GM that drafted AB, Bell, and Bryant especially since AB and Bryant were taken for a bargain. Also Mike Wallace did put up some good numbers when he was here for a pretty good bargain as well and then when they had to choose they obviously chose wisely. If I was an owner I would consider that as well. I know it's annoying that we haven't seen our defense built through the draft like we would like but Heyward has panned out well and Timmons has been very solid too. Woodley had a good run but he didn't wanna stay in shape. I think the Rooney's understand how rare a guy like Troy is and they don't expect to just draft another safety that will do what he does. We as fans just aren't as reasonable as we should be sometimes. Well, most of the time really. LOL.

That's an interesting point you raise because I think we also need to be aware that the Rooneys run a business and being competitive keeps the money coming in. We as fans want to win the Super Bowl every year and sure the Rooneys do too. But very likely the Rooneys are ok with the status quo too. Tomlin and Colbert keep the team competitive, with the slight (more or less) chance each year that the stars align and the team wins it all. The Rooneys aren't going to slay the golden goose because the risk of it all falling apart is too great if they make the wrong move and the team has a number of horrible seasons in a row. Again, not trying to imply that they don't care about winning it all, but just that they probably have a different definition of success then we as fans do. It is a business for them.

Actually the Bills have talent at CB, and they drafted Darby this year which made Cockrell expendable. The Steelers better hope Boykin and Cockrell pan out.

I don't see a change happening until Ben retires and there hasn't been progress made. They do need to get serviceable on defense if the goal to get ben a ring by then.

We have no draft picks from 2008/2009 on the roster?

And that's pretty much how things generally happen around the league. Some teams might have one or two players remaining on their rosters from the 2008 or 2009 drafts. As I stated before, rosters pretty much turnover every 4 to 5 seasons. Some players leave as FA's or are cut.

Not having players on the roster from 2008 or 2009 hasn't hurt this teams ability to remain competitive.

Isn't the average career of an NFL players something like 3-6 years? So in 2015, you wouldn't expect to have an average NFL career player still on the roster from that time period. It's somewhat of the nature of the beast.

NFL is a win NOW league and there is little time to hold and develop players.

Marcus Peters was NOT sitting there. He was gone before we selected. Also, before you anoint him as a legit NFL corner, let's see how he pans out mentally over the next couple of years. He had some red character flags leading into the draft.

I think Colbert is going to have to get more aggressive. I know he keeps screaming BPA so the Team doesn't reach , but at some point you have to know your Team is so weak in a specific area you have to target that area....

The NFL has become a passing league and we need CB'S and Safeties to keep up . DB'S should be targeted like a Franchise QB if you think they are the answer then you do what you have to do to get them.

I think Colbert is doing a decent job. I don't know why the OL, and then the secondary were/are neglected for so long.

The Steelers have the talent to win. Top 5 QB, best WR, top 5 receiving corps, best RB after AD, couple Probowl OL and a decent LT.

On defense they have Heyward and Timmons. That is the problem. Keenan Allen was very good but he left for home that isn't KC's fault and would have made a big difference. Mitchell was a mistake.

Only 1st round bust was Ziggy and he still played he wasn't a full bust.

KC is not the issue imo.

Before we put all the blame on Colbert you have to understand he holds pre draft meetings with all the coaches present and he get a consensus on what positions they will target in the draft, and what round they will focus their needs on: While tomlin and lebeau were content to let the defense age in place and ignore the needs in the secondary their focus seemed to be placed more on linebackers than at any other position defensively, recently picking LBs in the 1st round hasnt returned any favorable results IE, JJ and Shazier, we havent picked a 1st round corner since chad scott 20 years ago, so I think the blame for the draft can be equally shared with all the coaches mainly the HC,OC, an DC......

I think Colbert deserves the target on his back! For the 4th year in a row the Steelers are in "salary cap hell." This is not the coaches fault. It's OK to be in "salary cap hell" when you are winning championships...not struggling around .500! They have overpaid for mediocre at best defensive players and the worst signing that I believe they are still paying for today was to James Farrior. When he was 35 or so they gave him a 4 or 5 year contract with a $25 million guaranteed. He played two more years. Was this a "thank you" for being underpaid the prior years? I loved Farrior but deals like that are why the Stillers continue to be in "salary cap hell!" It wasn't just defensive players either. They kept giving Max Starks major dollars on one year contracts! Don't forget about the Jason Worilds money last year! I'm not in any position to do a better job but I got to believe the "salary cap hell" is Colbert's fault.

We're not in Salary cap Hell. We're about 5 1/2 mil to the good right now. 39-25 over the last four years.

The Steelers aren't in salary cap hell, in 2016 Woodley's 7-8 million dead money comes off the books and the salary cap is expected to rise.

We have the cap space we have because of unwanted restructuring. We had to do the restructuring mainly because of injuries.

Since when has a GM been fired for poor drafting. That seems to be the major sentiment about KC being on the hot seat. Before KC is gone, some scouting dept. personnel will be released. GMs lose their jobs for fielding teams with losing seasons.

Wonder what the 5 1/2 mil is for?
Can we not restructure a contract once the season starts?

Just wondering why they restructured Timmons if they're not going to spend the money?

It has been this way from 2 or 3 years ago. Nobody from these drafts.
    Do you find that odd?
