At the time if we would have done that the fan base would have lost their minds. The entire country would have thought we were crazy. Yet in hind site that appears the move we should have made. We could have used that pick on an elite player. Missing early on Qb's can set a franchise back 5 years. This could be very bad for our talent level. I don't see how Canada survives this season . A new OC will probably want to bring a QB with him. At the very least draft a high QB to compete. Our backups are a total disaster as well. We seem to have no ability to evaluate a QB's talent. I can't believe how bad Mitch is playing. When we signed him no one doubted we could get more out of him than the bears did. A veteran QB should never be this bad.

Tomlin usually is out coached. He got beat from Stefanki who was on his basement he’s a joke 500 is no big deal what a dubious accomplishment

Not sure I am following you, are you saying you dont think they have pre determined throws? Because he does it a lot. I think that’s because he is struggling reading defenses. They actually look like they are running a college offense, 1 read.

Are you sure Dobbs would have been any good in this system? I'm sure he would have been better than what Pickett is giving us (ultra low bar,) but I have a feeling we would be calling for his benching by now. Coaching matters.

I'm saying nobody is telling Him to throw only to a specific target.

I did with M. Trubisky, but I watch the Bears when the Steelers aren't playing, and anyone that actually watched knew He wasn't any good. I said when We,got him all My cousins laughed, and said that's what we got for giving them Kordell Stewart back in the day. LoL

No they aren't. That's just to say where to look 1st, and again that all changes for pre snap looks the D gives. They will say to him.... if the D looks like this....this is Your 1st look,.. if the D does this....this is Your 1st look.....not.....look here, and only here. Hell they don't do that in HS.

Dude wtf. You’re way off. There are a number of plays specifically drawn up that when they break the huddle the play is going to so and so player. I’m not talking about going through progressions.

Ok. I'm not going to argue with You. It's a waste of time. There always is the key target, a or number one, but its never set in stone, and can be switched by what the Qb sees pre snap....hell thats even in HS....Only like a screen is that the only play where there is only one throw, and even some screens have options off that...it's just that once You wait that long for it to develop....You usually can't go elsewhere. On other plays ....nobody....not Jr high, not HS....not college....do they say....only throw here. Again yes each play is designed to go to a certain man, but again....every coach knows that's not possible....that's why they have clear outs , and other routes. Otherwise they'd just say.....ball goes to so, and so....everyone else just go deep. LoL

I don’t get why Canada isn’t fired asap. The bills did it mid season, and look at their next game offensively! Pickett has been horrible, but maybe it would be worth changing coordinators and see if he has any chance of being good, or at least serviceable. Tomlin is wasting valuable years with Watt - and this year looks to be just that

I agree... I mean, what in the world did they see in Pickett to make them think Pickett is an NFL calibre QB *and* a 1st round draft pick?

It's very clear Pickett has less than average arm strength, at most average running ability, horrific pocket presence, can't go through progressions and stares down his WRs. Pickett played in the same stadium as steeler coaches who saw what Ben can do for 15+ years. How could they even think Pickett can be the next QB??

What could they have seen in Pickett to even think Pickett can be a franchise QB?

    Amazing....

Quick question....You actually believe that a play is drawn up, and there is only one guy to throw it to??. If so... LoL. Y'all do things differently in the north then. No wonder the SEC is so dang dominant. LoL

He was supposed to be able to go through his progressions well, but some people actually think there is only one player supposed to get the ball per play...so I guess that wouldn’t matter. LoL

Probably not telling him to throw to one specific target, but reps during week, emphasizes certain schemes that Canada swears by. Bubble screens for example that look chaotic, roll outs, that DON'T fool anyone. All schemed and reped to death during the week in order to get ahead of the markers, that simply are getting shut down. Can Kenny audible out of any play, I don't know how much autonomy he has to do that on a consistent basis, but sure looked like he did to Pickens for a TD a few weeks back on a deep fly, where he correctly saw the raven safety(s) playing shallow and Pickens one on one with their cb. Canada's reaction after the play was shock

You could flip the script here. Is Pickett holding Canada's offense back?

You have to wonder how long it is going to be until Matt Canada starts asking Mike Tomlin to let him try with another QB.

Howell is better. At least he can provide some upside to go along with his mistakes.

It’s called situational football my guy. There are absolutely plays in the playbook that are drawn up for certain situations.

You think AB didn’t have plays drawn up specifically to go to him? You’re funny.

What about all the receivers who run their routes half ass when they know the ball isn’t coming to them? Hell, I think it was a Steelers player that used to tip the defense off by what he did with his gloves at the line. Wallace maybe? If hew was adjusting his gloves the ball was going to him.

The fact that we had the privilege to see more of Kenny than anyone and we still drafted him is puzzling. We clearly believed in him and saw enough to want him in the 1st round. Everyone said he was running a pro offense in college. So why can't he make reads past 5 yards? Why can't he make his progressions quick enough? Why was his footwork so poor? Pocket presence has a lot to do with your ability to make your reads quickly. If you are slow in your progressions it opens you up to getting killed. Once he lost that confidence he started rushing things and missing reads. I actually think his arm is good enough. His issues are between the ears. If he was more comfortable in the pocket he'd be more accurate.

1st...it was ab with the gloves that tipped people off when He was younger.
2nd. Again I said that there is in every play a main target...if You go back, and read....what I'm trying to get through Your brain is that can change at pre snap, and that there is always....always....always an option to go elsewhere.....nobody draws up a play...besides certain screens....that only has one place to go with the ball. Nobody....Hell even in most basic Jr high football they at least give You a 2nd option. That is why all coaches hate to see lazy routes.....because it maybe coming to you if the main option is taken away.
