When I first heard the rumor and it said a source told Madden, I knew it was BS, it was probably the same source that told Madden about TJ .

I'm proud to hear this. I didn't think it was true, and I thought if it was.....I must have severely been wrong about the mentality of this guy. I think this all will make Him better in the long run.

I agree, but just how much better it makes him means everything.

Hey...if It only makes Him a better man....so be it, but I hope it makes Him a better player. In all reality.....I'd like to see them sign Mason, but nothing big enough to be forced to play Him like We did with Trubisky , draft another Qb in the 3rd...., and this Year have a true Qb competition. Then line them up 1st, 2nd, and 3rd....however it turns out, and it will be a big boon for the whole team.

Maybe Pickett didn’t refuse to play. Possibly he got pissed and Tomlin had to check him. Something definitely happened as Pickett thought he was gonna start.

Madden should be forced to change his name.
He should really stick to fake wrestling, where he can yell silly stuff like "we are here to take on the world!"

Reading between the lines of what Tomlin has said, I believe that there was a spirited back and forth between the two. Pickett probably stated his case and expressed disappointment in no uncertain terms, but he never refused to be a backup.

Ask Ric Flair if Madden should stick to wrestling. Supposedly, Madden has always worshipped Flair, but Flair can't stand him.

That sounds about right, and there isn't a thing wrong with Pickett speaking up for himself in that situation.

Wow, Pickett just basically confirmed the rumors, it was either he was starting or he was not suiting up. Lulz.

No, he really didn't. The rumor was that he refused to suit up if he wasn't starting, which wasn't true. His understanding going into the Seattle game was if he had been healthy enough to play, he was going to start. That is how Tomlin had put it going into the last two games, too. I'm sorry you don't understand the difference.

It's really not much of a surprise that the guys on here that think Pickett is trash believe the story. It's much easier to dislike a guy when you don't like his character.
Somewhere there's got to be a correlation between a low Wonderlic score and the ignorance of refusing to be a backup. Oh sh!t, the low hanging fruit is out of the bag.

The guys whose intelligence I question are the ones dumb enough to believe anything Madden says.

That guy Madden and others just got vindicated. You do not understand the difference. Tomlin said Pickett was ready, Pickett said he was not ready, Plus Pickett said the decision was he was either the starter or he was not going to suit up. Tomlin said he was not the starter and the team posture is we are going with Mason. There is a disconnect, and Madden and others because let's not credit the report just to Madden, others reported it too, the report is true. Pickett is only suiting up if he is starting, otherwise he is not suiting up to be #2 or #3. And that is not Tomlin's or team's decision, that is Pickett's decision.

The disconnect is how you interpret what he said. Either Pickett is declaring, "If I don't start, I don't dress!" [what you think] ... or the team said, "If you're not healthy enough to start, we're not playing you at all (i.e., you won't dress)." [what the rest of us think].

I don't believe any of it.
Either way the Steelers are terrible at damage control.

Wrong. I think Pickett is a career backup, and I believe that he had a spirited discussion with Tomlin, but I also believe him that he never refused to be a backup to Mason

LOL No, Madden was not vindicated. Others reported what Madden said. Kaboly hinted at it, but also admitted he didn't know. It was terrible journalism and you fell for it.

Here is what Pickett actually said. If you still don't get it after that, your reading skills need work.

“There was no talk of me being a backup quarterback this week in terms of being a (number) two,” Pickett said. “If I was healthy enough to play and trainers and coaches felt like I looked good enough to play, I was going to start and play. If they believed I was not, which they believed, I was not going to dress and suit up for the game.”

When did Tomlin say Pickett was ready? He may have been medically cleared, but that is not the same thing. For one thing, he has to have enough of his mobility back to protect himself and be effective. Again, I'm sorry your listening and/or reading skills are so poor.

Madden did what he does. He lied. He passed off fiction as fact to piss people off and get attention for himself. You fell for it. Now, like most suckers, you can't admit you were wrong.

Exactly. It is much easier to con a person than it is to convince that person he has been conned. Madden conned some folks here, including TGH, so he can't allow himself to see it any other way.

By the way, I'm paraphrasing a quote often attributed to Mark Twain there, but it has been disputed whether he said it or not.
