Wanting a average OC who just got fired, to come to the Steelers I would keep Fichtner over Whiz any day.

Who said Whisenhunt is a good coach , acting like he would be a improvement, the Chargers offense has struggled all season not interested in him at all.

I think the current state of the Chargers offense had more to do with Rivers than Whisenhunt.

So you're comparing Belichick getting fired, to Whisenhunt getting fired :roflmao:. Guess what nobody is hiring Whisenhunt to be a HC again .

It makes about as much sense as your argument that because someone gets fired or cut(player) he can never have a productive career anywhere else ever..... Guess what? Our coordinators are never getting another job as a coordinator either:roflmao:

Big difference the Chargers still have their future hall of fame QB starting, the Steelers have used their second and third string QBs.

Maybe they won't, but I wouldn't fire Fichtner to hire Whisenhunt either . FYI teams were interested in Butler when LeBeau was DC, that's why the Steelers promised Butler the job so he would stick around.

I’m not saying I definitely would either. I just think it’s silly to see things so black and white as far as coaches getting fired and players getting cut. One mans trash is another mans treasure. Didn’t the Ravens switch OCs mid season and go on to win a SB? Yes they did. Things aren’t always so cut and dry that’s the point.

It wouldn't be wise for the Steelers to do it midseason, they are starting a young QB, and you don't want him to have to learn a new offense midseason.

Maybe? Maybe not? but Whisenhunt getting fired from LA tells us nothing about our situation.

Yeah, that wildcat stuff was innovating. No reason to defend Ficht, Ben was carrying him. Bens the only reason he got the job.

Sticking by coaches is your thing though, I get it.

Fichtner had the #1 redzone offense in 2018, what has Whisenhunt done lately?

Both tied for 6th in points

    Except one had Ben.

Whiz is a much more accomplished coach than Ficht. Fichtner will never sniff a HC job let alone be a play away from winning a SB. He's lucky to have an OC job.

I'd actually be surprised if either him or Butler would land another job if the Steelers let them go.

Ken whisenhunt is an Ok coach...... Nothing really special...... he’s a proven lousy Head Coach but with highly talented players he’s ok as an OC.......

No, Randy isn't going anywhere as long as Mr. Lahey is still around.

Yeah let's hire Whisenhunt as OC, Grimm as OL coach, and bring back grandpa LeBeau as DC. It's not 2005 anymore .

It has more to do with that craptacular offensive line than it does either of them.

If you think a chargers affiliation is bad make sure you don't ever read up on the history of our GM, HC, and others running this team.

Whisenhunt was a master at game management , something that is a serious issue with this team IMO. Maybe he'd be happy collecting a paycheck? Anyone bashing Whiz has a short memory. This guy is a good coach.

I'm not happy with Randy this season, but if we're giving young players chances to blossom, then maybe we should give him a chance too. He came in here expecting to coordinate a Ben-led offense. He's making a major adjustment.
