he is a great target in the red zone but doesn't seem to do much outside the 20. he made some big catches against lesser competition but seemed to really struggle against press the other night. I am not as sold on him as I once was but I am no scout.lol

with Sampson now here, we have a nice little stable of WR's that have that first year out of the way. Sampson, wheaton, moye, brown added to AB. that's a nice mix.

That would be just okay IMO. However if we added a top round talent to the mix, our receiving corps could be dynamite. Next year starting AB, Marquis Lee, and Wheaton would be very dangerous. Every guy would be a threat to score on screens, crossing patterns, and fly routes. We'd have Moye and Brown fighting it out for the 4th/5th WR spot. If we re-sign Cotch, then we probably wont go WR early in the draft.

I have been talking about Benjamin to the Steelers for the last 2 months, there's no way Watkins will be around at #15. Please Moye, Justin Brown those guys won't be starting next season they're not even guaranteed to be on the team, who the heck is Sampson.

Ebron needs to be our pick plain and simple. No thank you on Benjamin I was interested in him but come the guy failed 2 or 3 times in high school. atThat says a lot to me if you fail once OK things happen but lets be real star athletes get treated differently in high school and This kid still couldn't pass. Either it's a lack of focus, caring, or he just isn't that bright.

We have a nice little stable of WR? Beyond AB, that list of WR's accounted for less than 10 receptions combine (if I remember correctly). It might be nice on paper, but Moye, Wheaton, etc have shown nothing that will say they'll fair any better than Limas Sweed or Fred Gibson or Willie Reid or Toney Clemons or Dallas Baker..... a lot of those guys looked good on paper too.

wouldn't a rookie fall into this category too? zero catches and zero time in this offense. at least 3 of them have a year in our system.

Shocking that Scott Brown would think its a cinch that Benjamin is the #2 WR in this draft as it currently stands. Not saying it won't happen, but Benjamin is still clearly behind Evans & Lee IMO.

I know, right? Add Sammy Watkins and Jordan Matthews to that list, too.

FWIW cbssports had Benjamin and Matthews in the second round I like Watkins and Lee but don't want them at #15 they're both are similar to what the Steelers already have in Brown, and Wheaton. I would rather draft a big receiver they could use a redzone target.
For these receivers a lot is going to depend on what they run at the combine and pro day workouts.

Why does everybody have a problem with our receivers? I personally like
our receiving corp.Yes we will pick a receiver this year, maybe 5th round or lower. Also there are only so many
balls to go around AB,Cotch, Wheaton,Heath, and the big one BELL.My friends Bell is the real deal in our
    future.With the proper work ethic
he will be a GAME CHANGER.

There's no guarantee Cotchery will be back. Although, my gut feeling says he will be.

I want to build a dynamic offence. An offense like the Broncos or Saints, where putting up 30 points a game becomes easy. This is today's NFL. Its what the rules allow you to do. NOONE has been a bigger defensive advocate over the past 10 years on these boards than me. But unfortunately I had to wake up. Everyone else should too and see that to be successful, you need to have a great offense. I still think DEFENSE will win the Superbowl in the end, but you need the OFFENSE to get there.

I say take a WR in the 1st round, then follow that up with 3 defensive picks.

Why does he have to be retired?

Miller/Spaeth or Miller/Amaro (or Ebron) I know which tandem would scare me more if I'm a DC.

Don't underestimate Spaeth's role in our improved run game down the stretch.

Teams don't have to worry about Spaeth catching the ball, I want that type of TE wreaking havoc out there, combine that with Heath, it's a nightmare matchup for defenses.

Bringing this back up, but what about him as a hybrid WR/TE? He's pretty damn big.

I beleive that Ebron, Safarian Jenkins, and Amaro are already the hybrid WR/TE. And by that I mean they can't block worth a damn.
