Kelvin Beachum Is The Steelers Secret Superstar According To ProFootballFocus

If the Steelers re-sign Beachum it will be done with the intention of keeping him at LT...no way are they signing him with the thought of him being an OG. This may be hard to believe, but Beachum is probably more valuable to the Steelers right now than DeCastro...even with DD's pedigree simply because it is so much harder to find a decent LT in this league compared to an OG.

The Steelers have got to be thinking of getting him locked up because if they play the franchise tag game you get into that ugly possibility of the player thinking "well if you paid me the tag last year, you set my ceiling higher...so I might as well try FA to see if I can get at least what you paid with the tag." My guess is Beachum probably gets signed towards the end of camp.

 

i agree. i don't think with the track record that colbert has with linemen that we can afford to let a good one go as the years wind down for ben. again like in the thread about MT getting an extension, Stability is the key as we make a run at the top with bens time left, a good solid staff and some really good players and prospects in the works. besides beachum works on his body and game to improve, starks wasn't that type of player nor did he have that work ethic and it trickled down to that whole group.
