well that wasted 2018 6th rd pick. Unless they plan on bringing him back for cheap but doubt it.

Got this notice from my Steelers app:

The Steelers released cornerback Justin Gilbert[IMG], it was announced today.

Gilbert saw action in 12 regular season games in 2016 for the Steelers, after being acquired via trade with the Cleveland Browns on September 3, 2016. He originally entered the NFL as a first round (eighth overall) draft choice of the Browns in 2014.

    Complainers lol

He provided CB depth this year, most 6 round picks don't even make the 53 man roster. It was perfectly adequate use of the pick

Due to a 1st round Rookie contract he had a 2.17 cap hit. This is the confusing part, the data and reporting st the time was that Gilbert 2017 salary and bonus was fully guaranteed. If that's true, cutting him makes no sense.

Steelers must have gotten him to reliqnuish guarantees to come to Pit.

I know what you're saying and I agree. It's just that a 6th round pick just won his 5th ring

oh so 2 mil. Yeah they could use that money. Assuming CB's in 2017 will be Burns-Cockrell-Gay-Golson and 1 more guy probably picked up in mid rounds of draft or go with shabazz.

I hope they sign a vet slot corner. Gay is probably close to done. And Golson is a lotto ticket at best.

I hope Golson doesn't end up like Sean Spence. Finally recover and then leave the team.

So apparently the dude just doesn't have the desire to play football. Hope he has something in store to make money because he's certainly probably not gonna make as much doing whatever he winds up doing then he could have by applying himself in the NFL.

The Patriots traded for Eric Rowe and he was in their CB rotation, we get Gilbert who can't play .
