When evaluating the QB position there are only 5 traits that I am looking for.
    1. Is the QB accurate
    2. Can he read defenses quickly and accurate.
    3. Can he make all the throws.
4 Does he have enough mobility inside the pocket to elude?
    5. Leadership.

If you find these traits, you will win football games.

Those are all important traits, though some are tough to measure. At best, Dobbs has shown he can make the throws and he has enough mobility. The current evidence indicates that he is not accurate and he cannot read defenses quickly and accurately. He hasn't had the opportunity to provide evidence regarding leadership either way yet.

Dobbs really hasn't shown he can make the throws. Especially passes to the sidelines, the most important ones to make.

Fair point. Perhaps I was being too generous.

I’m one of the biggest Vols fans in the world but I’m hoping Mason takes the back up spot from Dobbs.

Apparently Josh had a case of the 21st day jitters as his first two passes in 7 shots were both picked and his third was a badly overthrown pass to wide open Scott-Williamson.

Yeah, I was reading that all the INTs so far had come from him, and generally nothing exciting on display.

    Still, early days in camp.

We'll see. Dobbs may be playing like a scrub now, but he could light it up during the preseason games. Dobbs and Rudolph will get a lot of snaps, because Ben won't get hardly any.... except the usual 1st quarter of the 3rd game.

I hated the Dobbs pick and I still do, his college career was diametrically opposed to what this offense was designed around. Dump him/get what you can for him and give Rudolph all the snaps you can to see what he has. I would rather have an older veteran back up than a guy like Dobbs any day.

I think Dobbs will be traded, as long as he doesn't stink it up in the pre-season, If they get back a 6th or 7th rounder in return they be lucky.

I'm not a Dobbs hater, but I think you would rather have a QB who plays a similar style and system to the starter. Rudolph is that guy more than Dobbs.

But the 4th string guy will have to show some promise in order for Dobbs to be gone.

But, who knows maybe Rudolph won't perform well in pre-season and you have to keep Dobbs.

The Dobbs and Rudolph duel should be good stuff in the pre-season games, although I think Ben will play more in the pre-season than ususal, to get him more in tune with the WR core.

    You may get Landry back?

I don't think Dobbs is going anywhere. He's relatively cheap and he's got two years in the offense. I don't think he's good, but he's no worse now than he was when they decided to go with no experienced backup a year ago, primarily so they would still have him as a backup now.
