Ben will probably sign a extension next offseason, so they have more time to find his replacement.

Correct. They will either extend or cut him next off season to get that $40m cap hit down. He will probably get extended for two years, the second being an option year. That would free up nearly $13m for 2021

Don’t be an ass. You weren’t even involved in the debate, but couldn’t resist taking a personal shot at someone.

Pretty sure Rudolph sucking has nothing to do with being labeled a racist by one Myles Garrett and everything to do with the fact he sucks as an NFL QB.

Who are you talking to? If we are taking personal shots at people, I'm down with that. There is definitely one dude on the top of my list.

I think you might want to dbl check the numbers. I'm pretty sure they are stuck with Ben no matter what. He plays the owe him a lot, he retires it is still a large number against the cap, they cut him and the dead money hit is still huge. Painted themselves into a corner on that deal.

Based on what we've seen so far from Dobbs, keeping him around probably would have helped them reach that goal. :)

In all seriousness, the speculation is nice, but the fact is a rookie sixth-round draft pick beat Dobbs out for the No. 2 job in Jacksonville.

Deleted because I saw Steel Elvis's response. He may be asking the impossible of Stone, but hopefully, he will give it a shot.

It's funny you mentioned that, I thought about Flutie as I was typing that.

Hodges is 6'1". Flutie is listed as 5'10". Curt Warner 5'11" and David Kreig at 6'1". Those are some other ex QB's that are comparable in size.

It's not always the length but the girth that is important.

I did say Mason did get his head bashed by Earl Thomas III. Mason was doing good up until that point. After that, he never fully recovered I thought.

Keep in mind though, if there is an option that is better in 2021, I would say go for that option and get rid of Mason. Keeping this defense in tact is key. That Rookie QB deal is definitley valuable for continuity.

If he retires or is cut (unlikely I agree), he carries a dead cap hit of $22m, but that money is already paid over in bonuses following this years restructure. There is no turning back on that you are correct.

He is due a salary of $19m next year though, they can restructure that part and spread it over two to three years, reducing his cap hit in 2021. A two year extension would bring his cap hit in 2021 down to about $28m from $41m. Art Rooney has already said that they are open to looking at another extension.

If Ben is good this year I don’t think his contract is a huge issue.

Kurt Warner the former NFL QB is 6’2”. Curt Warner the former NFL RB is 5’11”. How about Drew Brees at 6’0”? He’s a conventional pocket passer who has done OK in his career.

Not playing favorites. If you paid attention you’d know that I’ve come down hard on others, including your target, for personal attacks.

It's just interesting that the instant someone makes a common sense point that you differ with, that thread gets locked down.....and then you target the guy who made your post look foolish? Maybe it's all coincidence:shrug:

Obey the rules (and use a lil common sense) and you'll never even know who the moderators are.

Actually I agree with a fair amount of what was said on “your side” of the ledger in that other thread, with a handful of exceptions that go too far. I just observe the rules of the board and don’t go deeply into political views. If anything, I let that thread get too far from being Steeler/football related before shutting it down because some of what was posted was a reasonable counterpoint to the mainstream discussion. I and my fellow mods probably shouldn’t have allowed that.

If you have a problem with moderation, take it up via PM. You can PM the mod you have an issue with, a different mod, or go straight to TTF.

Straight to TTF? Nobody goes straight to the chief. You have to answer like three questions, do a background check, strip and cavity search first. You would have an easier chance of seeing the great and powerful wizard of oz.:cool:

I appreciate the professional answer. The concern I have, along with most of the country, is that "going too far" is right or wrong these days depending on which "side of the ledger" you sit. What you posted, although simple and seemingly bland, was flat out wrong and controversial.........but because it was on the media side of things, it's accepted.......THAT IS WRONG.

No... it was "wrong" in your point of view. If you want a recent example of "wrong," let's look at something you posted in that same thread:

"Yes....it's about the rules. And we are methodically headed for a dramatic change it rules;) I'm just glad it's me and the cops that have guns :hehehe:"

Now how is someone supposed to take that statement? I suppose it could be interpreted as saying "if they come for me in my own home, I'm ready to defend myself," but your little raised eyebrow grinning emoticon says that it's not as innocent as that, especially coming just a few days after a kid shot and killed two protesters. You do OK when you stick to football. Luckily for you football is the primary reason for this message board. Find someplace else to advance your political, racial, etc. views.

You can't express "your opinions" and act like they are right just because they are yours. When you post something like you did below, you are taking a racial and political side and expressing it and then blocking opposing opinions. If you don't understand why the guy got shot it's because you have a political/racial agenda that won't allow you to see common sense.

Or..... Maybe he should listen to the police, and not walk block after block ignoring their requests...You can't let people ( especially armed and dangerous criminals with warrants ) ignore you and just keep doing what they want, When you tell them to stop

So that’s a death penalty offense?
